In episode 33 of "Si Jin," the drama intensifies as Zhen Heng's attempt to plead for Yu Qi during the morning court session is ignored by the Emperor. Yu Qi remains kneeling outside the palace, resolute in his demand to marry only Jiang Si, who waits outside the palace, sharing his hardship. Meanwhile, Cui Mingyue, excited about her impending marriage to Yu Qi, is enraged when she sees that Jiang Si has a wedding dress identical to hers. The Grand Princess appeases her daughter by adding imperial jewels to Cui Mingyue's dress.

The Emperor confronts Yu Qi, who is now extremely weak, but still refuses to yield, determined to marry only Jiang Si. The Emperor is reminded of his own past struggles for love and shows a moment of sympathy, shielding Yu Qi from the sun. Even after fainting, Yu Qi persists, refusing even the water offered by Princess Fuqing. Cui Mingyue, blissfully unaware of Yu Qi's ordeal, boasts about how she'll deal with Jiang Si after their marriage, thinking the imperial decree has silenced her rival. Zhen Heng expresses his admiration for Jiang Si, while Princess Fuqing worries about how to help the couple.

The Empress arranges a secret meeting for Jiang Si in the Imperial Garden, close to where Yu Qi is kneeling. Princess Fuqing then signals to Yu Qi that Jiang Si is nearby, and the two communicate through a kite, encouraging each other.

In a separate storyline, Jiang Yi brings her daughter, Yanyan, to meet Zhu Ziyu, who is now a beggar. Ashamed, Zhu Ziyu avoids revealing himself. Later, Jiang Yi gives him food and money, urging him to clean himself up and see his daughter. Zhu Ziyu is overwhelmed with regret for his past actions, revealing that he was exiled and hunted by the Grand Princess, with only him surviving his family's massacre.

Jiang Si, unwilling to let Yu Qi suffer further, requests an audience with the Emperor. Yu Qi faints, but the Empress informs him that Jiang Si has agreed to a shared marriage. Unwilling, Yu Qi is eventually persuaded to accept. On the wedding day, Jiang Si is anxious, hoping Zhu Ziyu's evidence can change their fate.

The climax occurs when both Cui Mingyue and Jiang Si's palanquins arrive. Yu Qi shockingly renounces his royal status, declaring he will only marry Jiang Si. Cui Mingyue is heartbroken, but Zhu Ziyu suddenly appears, claiming he is also betrothed to Cui Mingyue. He presents a contract written by Cui Mingyue, proving her deceit. Zhen Heng confirms the handwriting, exposing Cui Mingyue's lies. The Grand Princess tries to defend her daughter but inadvertently reveals her own involvement. The Emperor, upholding the law, orders Cui Mingyue to marry Zhu Ziyu, and the Grand Princess is forced to agree, with the wedding taking place immediately.
