This episode sees young Nan Xing (Gao Nanxing) finally coming to terms with his illness. After a disrespectful outburst towards his mother at the hospital, Qin Wenbin takes him to the neonatal intensive care unit. He shows Nan Xing the critically ill infants, explaining how their parents haven't given up on them, and how these tiny babies are fighting like warriors against their diseases. He emphasizes that Nan Xing, at 12 years old, shouldn't give up so easily. This powerful lesson hits home. Nan Xing returns to his mother, apologizes, and embraces her. He's finally ready to accept treatment and prepare for surgery.
Meanwhile, Dr. Liu Ziyi faces professional repercussions. Suspended from her duties, she's bombarded with calls from concerned patients who specifically request her. These patients, upset over the postponement of their surgeries and the change of surgeons, protest to the hospital administration. They're also aware of the situation with Zhang Chengpeng, and they support Dr. Liu, recognizing Zhang as a chronic troublemaker.
Qin Wenbin and Wang Gaosheng overhear colleagues discussing Dr. Liu's potential termination. They rush to the head nurse for information, only to find Jiang Yu and Gu Shiyi already there, attempting to "bribe" the nurse with snacks. However, the nurse claims ignorance. The former nurse, Liu Bei, has left, unwilling to get involved in the harassment case as she's about to get married.
Dr. Liu is called back by her department head, Director Yin. He informs her of the hospital's decision to compensate Zhang Chengpeng with 100,000 yuan. The hospital requests Dr. Liu to contribute 5,000 yuan, with the hospital covering the rest. Director Yin understands Dr. Liu's anger and frustration, offering to cover her share from the department's funds if she refuses.Dr. Liu, eager to return to work, agrees to pay.
Feeling for Dr. Liu's distress, Qin Wenbin and his colleagues gather during their lunch break to offer comfort. Dr. Liu appreciates their support, assuring them she's just venting. Wang Gaosheng uses this opportunity to propose a fixed schedule for their marathon training. However, due to their varying department schedules, they settle on dedicating Thursdays to training.
Upon returning to work, Dr. Liu encounters Xiaoxiao's mother, who is there to handle some paperwork. They share a heartfelt conversation. Xiaoxiao's mother expresses her understanding of Dr. Liu's efforts, acknowledging that she did everything she could. She mentions how happy Xiaoxiao was after transferring to this hospital, thanks to the kindness of Dr. Liu and Jiang Yu. Xiaoxiao was a kind and grateful child, which led her parents to donate her organs, hoping to pass on her "luck" to other children. They find solace in knowing Xiaoxiao's heart continues to beat somewhere in the world.
The group attempts to request schedule changes to accommodate their Thursday training, but they are unsuccessful. Qin Wenbin, who is not keen on participating in the marathon, directly asks the chief resident, Lao Li, for Thursdays off, citing marathon training as the reason. Lao Li flatly refuses. Qin Wenbin informs Wang Gaosheng of the failure, claiming Lao Li lectured him about prioritizing patients. Wang Gaosheng doesn't believe him, suspecting Qin Wenbin is the problem.
Wang Gaosheng then takes matters into his own hands, bringing gifts to Lao Li. He expertly identifies Lao Li's concern about his daughter, Li Xue, who is competing for the "Future Star" award and is currently in third place due to insufficient votes. Wang Gaosheng assures him he'll handle it.
The Zhang Chengpeng situation seems resolved as he leaves the hospital with the money. Later, the Vice President and department heads have dinner. Coincidentally, Qin Wenbin and his colleagues arrive and sit at the adjacent table, separated by a screen. Unaware of their neighbors, they begin criticizing the leadership, especially the Vice President. Director Yin desperately tries to signal them with coughs, but to no avail. The charade is exposed when the waiter addresses the Vice President by name. Embarrassed, the group starts play-acting, with Wang Gaosheng launching into flattery. They mention their marathon training and quickly escape. Wang Gaosheng pretends to "accidentally" bump into the Vice President, offers a toast, and leaves.
The Vice President, however, isn't petty. He understands the difficulties doctors face and knows Zhang Chengpeng was lying. He believes that paying 100,000 yuan to restore a doctor's dignity was money well spent. He's understanding of Dr. Liu's venting, acknowledging the unfairness she endured.
