Episode Summary
Misunderstandings abound in this episode. Gu Shiyi misinterprets Jiang Yu's relationships with his sisters, leading to awkward situations and a false claim about a boyfriend. Wang Gaosheng's affectionate messages to a contact named "Li Xue" cause a rift with Su Qing, who suspects infidelity. Qin Wenbin successfully operates on a transferred patient, Frank. After a gathering, Qin Wenbin and others leave a restaurant. Zhang Yu arrives to pick up Gu Shiyi, who unexpectedly brings Jiang Yu along for the ride. Zhang Yu is visibly annoyed by Jiang Yu's constant presence, and even Jiang Yu feels awkward, offering to get out. However, Gu Shiyi insists he stay. When they reach the apartment, a woman affectionately links arms with Jiang Yu, much to Zhang Yu's surprise. He warns Gu Shiyi that Jiang Yu might not be the innocent person she believes him to be. Gu Shiyi is taken aback, realizing Jiang Yu has a girlfriend and has been hiding this part of his life. It turns out the woman is Jiang Yu's third sister, who is facing family opposition to her marriage plans. She seeks solace with her brother, but their eldest sister calls, announcing an impending visit and stay. Jiang Yu, not wanting to rely on his sisters for financial help with housing, despite their offer, is in a bind. The next morning, Zhang Yu and Gu Shiyi witness the eldest sister with Jiang Yu, further fueling Gu Shiyi's confusion and Zhang Yu's suspicions about Jiang Yu's complicated love life.
Meanwhile, Wang Gaosheng and Su Qing's relationship hits a snag. Wang Gaosheng is helping Lao Li's daughter, Li Xue, with a campaign, and his frequent, affectionate messages (including heart and hug emojis) to someone saved as "Li Xue" arouse Su Qing's suspicions. She checks his phone while he's showering and finds the messages. Furious, she throws his belongings out. Wang Gaosheng, locked out, tries to explain through the window that he's messaging Lao Li, but when Su Qing calls Lao Li, his wife answers, thanking Wang Gaosheng for helping "our daughter," which only exacerbates Su Qing's anger. Wang Gaosheng is forced to spend the night at the hospital.
A patient named Frank, initially treated at a private hospital for myocarditis, experiences complications and is transferred back, where Qin Wenbin successfully performs surgery. Frank and Pan Yue express their gratitude to Qin Wenbin.
Liu Ziyi faces a challenging case: a former patient, Huang Tianming, whom she and Director Yin operated on years ago for a glioma, has a recurrence. Huang's wife specifically requests their help. With Director Yin unable to operate due to an eye problem, the responsibility falls on Liu Ziyi. Vice President Lu stresses the importance of this case, given Huang Tianming's charitable foundation and the hospital's need for his support. Liu Ziyi, ever the professional, assures that she treats all patients equally, regardless of their status.
Pan Yue meets with Qin Wenbin's mother, gifting her camping gear, knowing her interests. Qin's mother expresses her approval of Pan Yue but acknowledges that their careers will likely keep them apart. She assures Pan Yue that Qin Wenbin will always be available to help her or her friends.
Later, Jiang Yu's second sister visits him at the hospital. Liu Ziyi and Gu Shiyi spot them eating together, with Gu Shiyi noting this is the third different woman she's seen with him. Gu Shiyi, concerned about Jiang Yu and misinterpreting the situation, tries to subtly warn him about maintaining professional boundaries. Jiang Yu, oblivious to her misunderstanding, admits he struggles with interacting with women, especially his sisters.
The climax of the episode occurs when Jiang Yu's sisters convene at his apartment for a family meeting. They arrive before him and begin arguing. Gu Shiyi, arriving home before Jiang Yu, eavesdrops. When Jiang Yu arrives, he tries to escape to Gu Shiyi's apartment, but she refuses, fearing involvement. Jiang Yu is dragged back into the apartment by his sisters. Gu Shiyi, hearing the escalating argument, intervenes to "rescue" Jiang Yu. She calms the sisters down, but to protect herself, she claims to be Jiang Yu's colleague and that she has a boyfriend. This statement saddens Jiang Yu. The sisters, realizing their argument is inappropriate in Jiang Yu's room, leave. Jiang Yu confronts Gu Shiyi about the "boyfriend" claim, and she admits she made it up, relieving him.
