The episode opens with Wang Gaosheng reeling from the death of his patient, Xu Ming. He's convinced he could have saved Xu Ming if the patient's aunt hadn't delayed crucial treatment due to her distrust. Fellow doctors Gu Shiyi and Jiang Yu try to comfort Gaosheng, but their attempts fall flat, repeatedly hitting sore spots.

Later, Gaosheng returns home to find his mother and younger brother, Wan Li, waiting for him. Su Qing, Gaosheng's wife, prepares a large dinner for the family. During the meal, Gaosheng senses that Wan Li has something to say. He signals for Su Qing to take their daughter, Nuannuan, to another room. Once they're alone, Wan Li reveals he needs to borrow money for his struggling fruit store. Gaosheng is in a tough spot, having already lent Wan Li a substantial sum the previous month. Wan Li has brought their mother along, who appeals to Gaosheng's sense of familial duty, reminding him that the family sacrificed to support his education, leaving little for Wan Li, who ended up attending a vocational school. She insists that Gaosheng, as the older brother, must help Wan Li.

Meanwhile, Tang Mao, recovering well from his surgery, has been transferred to a regular ward. However, he and his brother are desperate to see Liu Ziyi, the surgeon who operated on him, but have been unable to do so since the surgery. They get into a heated argument with the Head Nurse in the hospital corridor, refusing to leave until they see Liu Ziyi. The scene is captured on video by onlookers and uploaded online. The video sparks a wave of online criticism against the attending physician, with commenters unaware of the full story siding with the patient and his family, accusing the doctor of irresponsibility.

Qin Wenbin sees the video and steps in to explain the situation to Tang Mao and his brother. Jiang Yu and Gu Shiyi stand guard outside Liu Ziyi's office. Liu Ziyi, seeing the online video, decides to confront the situation. Knowing that Qin Wenbin, the Head Nurse, and hospital security are present, she feels it's safe to meet the brothers, who claim they want to express their gratitude.

Liu Ziyi approaches the group and overhears Qin Wenbin telling Tang Mao and his brother about the difficulty of training a doctor. Qin Wenbin, seeing Liu Ziyi, rushes to shield her, referencing a past incident where the brothers had harmed her. However, Tang Mao and his brother genuinely want to apologize and thank Liu Ziyi. Tang Mao's brother kneels before Liu Ziyi in front of everyone, apologizing for their past actions and expressing immense gratitude for her willingness to operate on his brother despite their history. Liu Ziyi explains that saving lives is her duty as a doctor and urges Tang Mao to schedule regular check-ups and avoid impulsive behavior in the future. Qin Wenbin's protective actions during this incident earn him praise from his colleagues.

In a separate storyline, Qin Wenbin's acquaintance, Wu Dachuan, brings his pregnant wife, Xiao Jing, to the hospital for an examination. Xiao Jing is over five months pregnant but has a heart condition. Qin Wenbin's examination reveals a grim prognosis, and he informs them that Xiao Jing's condition makes childbirth extremely risky. However, Wu Dachuan and Xiao Jing are desperate to have the child. Qin Wenbin arranges for them to be hospitalized, and discusses treatment options with the obstetrics department.

After consulting with the obstetricians, Qin Wenbin proposes a plan involving a cesarean section followed by heart surgery for Xiao Jing. Because of his personal connection to Wu Dachuan, Qin Wenbin tries to counsel the couple. However, Wu Dachuan and Xiao Jing are deeply worried, particularly about the potential risks of a premature birth, and Wu Dachuan becomes very emotional.
