In Episode 17 of "Good Will Society," things get a little awkward and a lot revealing. Jiang Yu's sisters, eager to meet his colleagues, drop by and insist they try their shop's specialty: hand-pounded beef balls. Jiang Yu tries to get his coworkers off the hook, seeing as they're all tired, but ends up demonstrating the process himself. Gu Shiyi and Liu Ziyi share a quiet moment, with Gu Shiyi admitting that if she were younger, Jiang Yu would totally be her type.
The dinner is cut short when Gu Shiyi gets a call about Zhang Yu being rushed to the ER for poisoning. It turns out Zhang Yu's condition isn't critical. Gu Shiyi makes it clear to him that she's not interested in him romantically and just wants him to focus on recovering. Meanwhile, Zhang Chengpeng is back in the ER with serious injuries, and again, he has no family with him.
After the meal, Wang Gaosheng gives Jiang Yu a ride home on his electric bike, completely shocked to discover Jiang Yu is actually from a wealthy family. But Jiang Yu insists he doesn't want to rely on his family's money; he's happy being a doctor and living in the Talent Apartments. Wang Gaosheng returns home and presents his wife, Su Qing, with a gift card to Jiang Yu's family's hot pot restaurant, a gift from Jiang Yu's sisters, giving him a rare moment to feel proud in front of his wife.
Liu Ziyi has a chance encounter while buying coffee. She runs into Ding Hao, the younger brother of her high school classmate Ding Qin. She doesn't recognize him at first, mistaking him for a former patient, but he introduces himself, and she realizes he's grown up from a kid to a 24-year-old man. Aunt Jiang discharges herself from the hospital, and Qin Wenbin sees her out. He runs into Liu Ziyi and asks if she's against her father having a late-in-life romance. Liu Ziyi ignores him and calls her dad, telling him she's coming home for dinner.
Pan Yue contacts Qin Wenbin, urging him to help Jiang Xue, who is a good friend of hers. However, Qin Wenbin, as a doctor, insists on remaining professional and not letting personal feelings interfere with his work. Pan Yue is angered by Qin Wenbin's attitude.
Gu Shiyi meets the daughter of the car accident patient again and teaches her how to use her medical insurance card. The young girl always arrives at the hospital after visiting hours, so Gu Shiyi asks Jiang Yu for help. Jiang Yu takes the girl to the ICU, letting her see her mother from behind the glass. Zhang Yu visits Gu Shiyi and witnesses her performing emergency treatment on a patient. He's overwhelmed and throws up, his face turning pale. This experience gives him a new perspective on Gu Shiyi's profession, realizing it might be more than he can handle.
Liu Ziyi returns home and, for the first time, openly discusses Aunt Jiang with her father. After Liu Ziyi's mother passed away, they relied on each other. Now that life is better, Liu Ziyi wants her father to find his own happiness, just as he wants her to be happy. Father and daughter reach an understanding, agreeing to seize happiness whenever they can.
