In Episode 22 of "Good Will Society," things are getting intense at the hospital. Qin Wenbin tries to connect with a patient, but she remains completely unresponsive. Xiao Hu, who brought the patient in, feels responsible and insists on trying to get her to agree to the life-saving surgery. The patient, however, seems indifferent to her own fate, alarming both Xiao Hu and an elderly woman sharing the room.

Meanwhile, Wang Gaosheng successfully completes a surgery. His mother visits him, bringing homemade goods, but she refuses his offer to take a taxi to visit her granddaughter, Nuannuan, and have dinner together. She insists on returning to her hometown, reminding Wang Gaosheng to focus on his work, get along with his colleagues, and that it is okay if he is not the director. Wang Gaosheng is visibly affected by his mother's departure.

Jiang Han gets her checkup results, which are normal. Seeing an opportunity to spend more time with Qin Wenbin, whom she's interested in, she seems keen to prolong her stay. Her sister, Jiang Yu, however, thinks they're not a good match.

During lunch, Qin Wenbin finds Wang Gaosheng in low spirits. Wang Gaosheng has learned that the patient he operated on was switched back to him not because of his skills, but because Doctor Zheng's schedule was too full. Qin Wenbin tries to comfort him, emphasizing that the patient's well-being is what truly matters. Wang Gaosheng also reveals he won't be participating in the Saturday marathon, claiming he has family matters to attend to, though Qin Wenbin suspects he's taking on extra "flying knife" surgeries (freelance surgeries at other hospitals). Qin Wenbin later checks with Su Qing, Wang Gaosheng's wife, who mentions financial pressures but nothing else. Su Qing is truly in love with Wang Gaosheng and supports him, hoping that they can face any problems together.

Wang Gaosheng lies about attending a seminar out of town on Saturday, but Qin Wenbin intercepts him. Qin Wenbin has already contacted Doctor Zhang to decline the freelance surgery on Wang Gaosheng's behalf. He then takes Wang Gaosheng to the marathon, reminding him of their commitment. They join Liu Ziyi and others, hoping a good performance will reflect well on the hospital. During the race, they encounter a runner who suffers cardiac arrest. The group performs CPR, successfully saving the runner's life. Despite falling behind, they decide to finish the race, ready to provide medical assistance if needed. After the race, they come across a lottery shop and decide to buy a ticket together, choosing a set of numbers.

The girl Xiao Hu saved, He Yingzi, remains withdrawn, speaking only to Xiao Hu. The son of the elderly woman in the same room arrives with a large sum of cash but refuses to pay for his mother's surgery, opting for conservative treatment instead. He Yingzi, disgusted by his behavior, attempts to steal the money while he's asleep and the old woman is out of the room.
