The episode opens with Jiang Han sending a bottle of medicinal wine to Qin Wenbin via a delivery service. Confused, Qin Wenbin takes the wine to Jiang Yu, Jiang Han's younger brother. Jiang Yu is also unsure of his sister's intentions but explains that the wine is a traditional tonic, often consumed by elders in their family. Qin Wenbin, claiming he's perfectly healthy, leaves the wine with Jiang Yu.
Later, Jiang Yu returns the wine to Jiang Han, who is visibly trying to suppress her disappointment. Jiang Yu, concerned for his sister, cautiously asks if she's alright. After he leaves, Jiang Han breaks down in tears, revealing the depth of her unspoken feelings.
Meanwhile, Xiao Hu spots He Yingzi on his bus ride to work. He gets off to follow her and finds her working a dishwashing job at a restaurant. He Yingzi looks unwell, and Xiao Hu urges her to get the surgery she needs. However, He Yingzi is adamant that she won't undergo the procedure. Determined to help, Xiao Hu approaches Qin Wenbin at the hospital, informing him of He Yingzi's situation and inquiring about financial aid for impoverished patients. Qin Wenbin advises Xiao Hu to gather He Yingzi's information to submit an application.
A new patient, Yu Jia, arrives, seen by Liu Ziyi. Yu Jia is a struggling student preparing for her art school entrance exams. Raised by a single mother after her father's death, Yu Jia's recent cessation of her menstrual cycle has her mother suspecting a relationship. However, Liu Ziyi diagnoses her with a brain tumor. The news devastates Yu Jia's mother, especially with the exams looming.
Fresh out of surgery, Qin Wenbin overhears gossip about his supposed impotence. He's taken aback by the rumor and unsure of its origin. The gossip spreads rapidly throughout the hospital, even reaching Liu Ziyi. Qin Wenbin, already sensitive about needing "tonics," brings Liu Ziyi a meal after her meeting, and Zuo Feng (presumably a colleague) makes himself scarce to give them space. Qin Wenbin mentions needing to deliver dog food to Xiao Hei (likely a pet), using it as an excuse to go home with Liu Ziyi, which she agrees to. Ding Hao introduces Liu Ziyi to a friend, who, coincidentally, is Qin Wenbin's mother, though they are unaware of each other's identities. Ding Hao, while grilling, dirties his clothes and attempts a romantic clothes-changing scene with Liu Ziyi, but she doesn't play along.
Liu Ziyi chats with Qin Wenbin's mother, referred to as Sister Liu. Sister Liu shares her past heartbreak over her husband's infidelity and her journey to her current, joyful state. She remarks on the good match between Liu Ziyi and Ding Hao, noting that Liu Ziyi is the first girl Ding Hao has brought camping.
