This episode kicks off with Zeng Mingfang trying to smooth things over with Jiang He and his mother. She invites them to dinner, hoping to apologize for a previous incident. Jin Dong, aware of the situation, informs Jin Chun, who agrees to attend. However, things go south when Jin Chun is a no-show. Jiang He's mother, initially open to reconciliation, becomes increasingly displeased by the long wait. Zeng Mingfang feels embarrassed by Jin Chun's absence, especially since this was supposed to be a meeting of mutual respect. Jin Dong tries calling Jin Chun repeatedly, but gets no answer. After Jiang He and his mother leave, Jin Chun finally responds, claiming work kept her away.
Meanwhile, Xu Tongsheng is completely engrossed in his lightning simulation experiments. Mao Mao tries to remind him to leave work, but Jiang Li suggests it's better not to disturb him. Xu Tongsheng's dedication pays off, as he generates 30,000 experimental data points over several days of overtime.
Zeng Mingfang, furious about the dinner fiasco, goes to confront Jin Chun. Jin Dong tags along, but they find Jin Chun's place empty. Zeng Mingfang insists that Jin Chun must apologize, emphasizing that Jiang He's mother is a major benefactor of the welfare home. When Jin Chun finally arrives home, Zeng Mingfang immediately confronts her. Jin Chun explains that Jiang He's mother is impossible to deal with, acting superior to everyone. Jin Dong agrees with this assessment. Zeng Mingfang is no longer concerned about whether the matchmaking continues, but she's furious about Jin Chun's rudeness and the embarrassment it caused her. Jin Chun calls him, and upon learning he's at the plant, she hangs up, worried that talking on the phone might attract lightning. Jin Chun, learning her parents are home, starts running back. She bumps into Han Jun, who gives her a ride.
Xu Tongsheng's on-site observations give him a breakthrough. He returns to the fire investigation department and instructs Mao Mao to immediately check the restaurant's electricity usage records. He calls Shen Ye, claiming he's figured out the cause of the fire and needs Shen Ye's help the next morning for a fire reconstruction, as more lightning is expected.
Shen Ye is at the hospital caring for Shen Yi. He tells Shen Yi he needs to go back to the station the next day, but Shen Yi tries various tactics to dissuade him. Shen Ye ends up notifying Li Dangui instead. During the stormy night, Plant Manager Gao and Wu Yu try to stop Xu Tongsheng, but he ignores them.

He confirms that the distribution box was indeed struck by lightning, as Wu Yu claimed. However, the lightning bypassed the lightning rod and hit the distribution box because of a pre-arranged, strong electromagnetic field. This indicates that the factory had some extremely power-hungry equipment running on the night of the incident. The electricity usage records show a spike at the Ducheng Processing Plant that night, providing solid evidence. Plant Manager Gao is unable to refute the evidence, but as he's being taken away by the police, he gives Xu Tongsheng a sinister smile.
