Spoiler Alert
Mr. Su gives Zhao Chuxi a complete makeover, complete with a new suit and hairstyle. Although Chuxi feels awkward, he has to admit he looks completely different. Mr. Su informs Chuxi that he'll be accompanying him to a business dinner that evening, and his main job is to help him deflect drinks. Chuxi is thrilled when he hears that the success of this dinner could mean the workers get their wages, and Mr. Su reminds him to remember his role: personal assistant.
At the venue, Chuxi can't help but look around, a habit Mr. Su simply smiles at. Soon, Xu Shaoqing arrives, greeting Mr. Su with a hug and a barrage of sweet talk. Chuxi, uninterested, wanders off to play with the fish in a nearby tank. Mr. Su, entering with Xu Shaoqing, reminds Lu Yao to keep an eye on Chuxi. Chuxi learns from Lu Yao that Xu Shaoqing and Mr. Su were classmates during their studies abroad, and that Xu Shaoqing had even pursued Mr. Su romantically. This news clearly unsettles Chuxi.
During the dinner, Chuxi watches as everyone fawns over Xu Shaoqing, muttering to Lu Yao that they're all a bunch of brown-nosers. Lu Yao, alarmed, tries to shush him. Things escalate when the guests jokingly suggest Mr. Su and Xu Shaoqing share a toast, followed by a round of toasts directed at Mr. Su. Chuxi, remembering his duty to protect Mr. Su from excessive drinking, jumps in, clumsily toasting everyone, even getting names wrong. However, while he's busy with one group, Xu Shaoqing starts drinking with Mr. Su. Chuxi rushes back, but his actions anger Xu Shaoqing, who declares that Chuxi isn't worthy of drinking with him. Mr. Su signals Chuxi to back down, and Xu Shaoqing demands three more drinks with Mr. Su. Chuxi, seeing Mr. Su's discomfort, steps in again, creating a tense standoff. Finally, Mr. Su redirects the conversation back to business, suggesting they can drink more later. Xu Shaoqing backs down, ending the awkward scene.
After the dinner, a slightly drunk Mr. Su and Xu Shaoqing see off the other guests. Xu Shaoqing offers to take Mr. Su home, but Chuxi appears out of nowhere, pushes Xu Shaoqing aside, and, with Lu Yao's help, escorts Mr. Su away. Xu Shaoqing is furious and immediately orders his people to investigate Chuxi.
Mr. Su has Lu Yao go home and sits with Chuxi on the roadside. Chuxi is very drunk, and Mr. Su, worried about him going home alone, takes him back to stay in his guest room. Both have trouble sleeping that night. The next morning, Mr. Su has a huge breakfast prepared before leaving. Chuxi, after eating his fill, packs some food for Qiang and Er Pang. They were worried about Chuxi's overnight absence and are relieved when he explains he was just accompanying Mr. Su to a business engagement and got drunk.
Chuxi goes to see Mr. Su, who is in high spirits because the contract was signed, meaning the workers' wages can be paid. When Chuxi returns, the wages have already been deposited, and everyone is overjoyed, lifting Chuxi up in celebration.
Meanwhile, Xu Shaoqing receives Chuxi's background information and is incredulous that Mr. Su would keep such a person around. His subordinate confirms seeing Chuxi working on the construction site. Xu Shaoqing then visits Mr. Su at the construction site, subtly suggesting that he distance himself from Chuxi, implying they are from different worlds. Xu Shaoqing also proposes a trip with Mr. Su to Sanjiang to visit Mr. Su's father, which Mr. Su agrees to.
Mr. Su's car reappears at the construction site, but only Lu Yao is inside. She delivers Chuxi's wages for his time as Mr. Su's assistant, explaining that Mr. Su won't be returning for a while. Lu Yao also relays Mr. Su's message that Chuxi doesn't need to return the clothes and things that were gifted to him. She adds that if Chuxi isn't going home for the New Year, he can work as a gatekeeper at the living quarters for 100 yuan a day.
