Episode Summary
Xiao Mucheng asks Yi Ran to fake-date him to boost event numbers. A misunderstanding and a guest's medical emergency lead to Yi Ran and Xiao Mucheng getting locked in a linen room overnight, sparking rumors. Meanwhile, a competition for a project heats up, and a charming new guest arrives, causing confusion and mistaken identity. Yi Ran later confronts Xiao Mucheng, believing him to be married, after seeing him with another man.

In Episode 4 of "The Quirky and the Charming," things get even more complicated between Xiao Mucheng and Yi Ran. Xiao Mucheng asks Yi Ran to pretend to date him because the hotel's Valentine's Day event isn't attracting enough participants, and he's encouraging internal staff to join. Yi Ran feels used and is not happy about it. She is also facing an accusation from the guest. Yi Ran believes in mutual understanding, and she calls out Xiao Mucheng for not genuinely addressing the hotel's issues, accusing him of being superficial and fake! Xiao Mucheng is speechless at first, but he can't stop thinking about Yi Ran's words. He ends up calling her to ask about the suggestions in her sleep-tester report, but Yi Ran is too busy sleeping to care.
Meanwhile, Xiao Mucheng and Ling Yishu are competing for the Tengyue project. Lin Youjia, the head of Tengyue, decides to let them fight it out, hoping to benefit from their rivalry. Ling Yishu returns from a business trip and learns that Xiao Mucheng hosted an open kitchen day for Tengyue's executives. She immediately confronts him, confidently declaring that she will win.
Yi Ran discovers that a male guest in one of the rooms has a heart condition and needs help getting his prescription medication. However, hotel policy prohibits staff from buying prescription drugs for guests. The mention of "heart disease" triggers Yi Ran, reminding her of her father's death from a heart attack. She rushes out of the hotel to buy the medicine.
Yi Ran returns with the medicine and gives it to the elderly guest. Before the hotel's awards ceremony, an evaluator will pose as a guest. Gu Xindi, hoping to regain Xiao Mucheng's favor, decides to provide excellent service to the evaluator. She mistakes a Mr. Lin for the evaluator and is extremely attentive during his check-in, almost falling for his charming smile. The handsome and wealthy Mr. Lin wins everyone over by being polite and even helping a staff member adjust their name tag.
Yi Ran receives a puzzle from a staff member, supposedly a gift from someone. She mistakenly believes Xiao Mucheng sent it and follows him to the linen room to ask why. She's told he didn't send it. Unnoticed, the linen room door is broken, and they accidentally get locked inside. Xiao Mucheng doesn't have his phone, so he uses Yi Ran's to call his assistant, but the calls are mistaken for spam and hung up on several times.
Yi Ran and Xiao Mucheng light some candles. Yi Ran finds the environment cozy, but Xiao Mucheng, clearly not used to being in a basement, is uncomfortable. They spend the night in the basement linen room and are discovered the next morning during inventory. In front of everyone, Yi Ran is sound asleep, resting her head on Xiao Mucheng's arm. Rumors about them spread quickly, eventually morphing into a story that Xiao Mucheng is secretly married with twins!
Because of the rumors, Yi Ran starts avoiding Xiao Mucheng, who also feels awkward, even mistaking others for Yi Ran during a meeting. The gossip reaches Yi Ran, but she hears that Xiao Mucheng is already married with children, completely unaware that she's the other person in the rumor. Yi Ran receives an interview invitation and runs into Xiao Mucheng on her way out, giving him a huge eye-roll. Lin Youjia asks the front desk for Yi Ran's room number, but they refuse due to guest privacy. He accidentally runs into Yi Ran in the lobby and instinctively follows her, only to see Xiao Mucheng pick her up in his car, with Yi Ran angrily calling him a "jerk."
