Yi Ran loses her job and struggles to find new work, while Xiao Mucheng realizes he misjudged her and tries to get her back. In Episode 6, things get even more complicated for Yi Ran and Xiao Mucheng. Yi Ran, feeling down after losing her job at the Quanhai Resort Hotel, goes on a spicy food binge with her friend, Mr. Lin. She drowns her sorrows in bowl after bowl of luosifen (a pungent snail noodle soup), much to Mr. Lin's dismay. Yi Ran explains that she's not upset about losing just any job; it was her first time working in the hotel industry, a step closer to her dream, which now seems impossible.
Meanwhile, Xiao Mucheng, despite trying to avoid thinking about Yi Ran, is also feeling conflicted. Yi Ran, with nowhere else to go, spends the night at the nursing home with her grandmother, pretending to have just arrived in the morning. She leaves a note for Old Cui, a staff member, reminding him to take care of himself. Her absence is felt at the hotel, with even the broken printer reminding the front desk staff of her.
A potential business deal arises when Xiao Mucheng meets with Lin Youjia, who turns out to be the man Yi Ran was with previously. The encounter is tense, with Xiao Mucheng's handshake a little too firm. Lin Youjia, staying at the Quanhai Hotel, is impressed with their service and offers a partnership. His one condition? Yi Ran must be rehired as the hotel's sleep tester for the next three years, with all her expenses covered. Although it's a tempting offer, Xiao Mucheng refuses, emphasizing that Yi Ran is not a bargaining chip.
Xiao Mucheng later receives Yi Ran's sleep testing report and sees the positive feedback on her posts. He also receives a gift from a guest Yi Ran helped, realizing he misjudged her. Yi Ran, meanwhile, struggles to find work, taking on odd jobs like being a designated driver and working at a flower shop, but faces constant setbacks. She lies to her grandmother about her situation, pretending to be doing well.
Yi Ran's influence starts to change Xiao Mucheng's perspective. He starts to understand things he couldn't before. Yi Ran gets a job at a coffee shop, where her efforts suddenly attract a crowd. However, she discovers that Xiao Mucheng hired these people, leaving her angry and confused. She meets with her friend that night, and they discuss how it is worth it to be tired, if you are doing something that you are passionate about.
Later, Xiao Mucheng finds Yi Ran at the coffee shop and intervenes when he sees her boss harassing her. He pays off her debt to the boss and takes her away. Xiao Mucheng formally invites Yi Ran back to the hotel, admitting she was right about customers wanting a good experience, not just luxury. However, Yi Ran refuses, seeing it as charity. She walks away, frustrated by Xiao Mucheng's seeming lack of sincerity. In a final, desperate attempt, Xiao Mucheng chases after her bus, holding up a sign apologizing and promising to improve. Yi Ran, seeing this, can't help but smile, muttering "crazy" under her breath.
The episode ends with a twist: Lin Youjia, aware of Quanhai's financial troubles, decides to partner with Ling Yishu, also on the condition that Yi Ran becomes a sleep tester. However, he's immediately informed that Yi Ran has already rejoined Quanhai.
