Plot Synopsis

Premiering on Tencent Video on March 16, 2025,Yin Yang Cai Feng(阴阳裁缝) is a Chinese web series set in the Republican era (1912-1949). The show centers around Ma San, a seemingly ordinary tailor with extraordinary, mystical abilities, blending elements of fantasy, suspense, and social commentary.

The Story:

Ma San (played by Ying Haoming), a 60-year-old former Yin Yang master (a kind of Taoist exorcist/priest), now runs a tailor shop. Hepossesses the secret art of "threading needles and connecting lines"— apower that goes beyond sewing clothes; he can "stitch heads and extend lives." The series opens dramatically: Song Yuan (played by Shi Xuanru), a lawyer, is wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to beheading. Ma San uses his secret technique to reattach her head to her body after the execution, bringing her back to life.

The main conflict revolves around the son of the local magistrate, Zhao Gongzi (played by Zheng Xingxing), a bully who abuses hispower. He forces a young woman, Ling'er, into suicide and frames Song Yuan for it. Ma San, along with the resurrected Song Yuan, uses his mystical abilities – including "ascending to the heavens on a rope to request helpfrom immortals" and "opening the celestial eye to see ghosts" – to uncover the Zhao family's crimes. They discover that Zhao Gongzi murdered his maid, Ruyi, after a drunken episode and buried her in the courtyard. They also find that a courtesan, Xiaoqing, was seduced and then silenced by Zhao Gongzi, with her vengeful spirit becoming a key element in the case.

Zhao Gongzi, haunted by the ghosts of those he wronged, becomes increasingly unhinged. The magistrate begs Ma San to save his son, giving Ma San leverage to force a confession. Zhao Gongzi reveals the location of the buried remains,providing irrefutable evidence, leading to the arrest of both father and son. Other characters, such as Ma San's apprentice, A Qiu, and thepolice captain, Wang Gang, contribute to the narrative, representing the forces of justice among the commonpeople.
