Playing Go: Episode 8

Spoiler Alert

"Playing Go" Episode 8: Chessmaster Cui Ye Outplays Everyone (Including Explosions)

Let’s just say, if Ocean’s Eleven met Death Note in a smoky back-alley Go parlor, you’d get this gloriously chaotic episode. Buckle up, folks.

The Dumb Apprentice Strikes Again

Jin Xiasheng’s still strutting around like he’s the chosen one, convinced he’s Cui Ye’s "chess prodigy." Newsflash, buddy: Cui Ye politely informs him that in Go, you don’t call it a "killer move"—it’s a "shoujin" (Tactical move). Also, maybe stop leaving DNA everywhere? While prepping for the big dock exchange, Jin accidentally slashes his hand on a rope, dripping blood like a leaky ketchup packet. Smooth.

Ping-Pong of Death

Wang Hongyu’s back to playing “friendly” ping-pong with Du Chunpeng, who’s basically a human grenade with a demolition background. Xiao Ding’s team tail them, learning Du quit his mining job two years ago ( suspicious). Cui Wei (our tenacious cop) smells trouble and chases Du, only to get stuck in traffic. Classic.

Taxi Driver Chaos™

Cui Ye grabs two suitcases from locker #57, tosses them into a taxi… driven by Du Chunpeng (plot twist!). Cui Wei commandeers another cab to chase them, but the driver’s a self-proclaimed "Mr. Zero Accidents" who lets Cui Wei take the wheel. Cue Fast & Furious drifting montage. Meanwhile, Jin Xiasheng—panicking after Cui Ye orders him to wipe his phone—chucks his phone into a random delivery guy’s bag. The delivery dude? Immediately calls his entire family to brag. Police: not amused.

Boom Goes the Boat

At the dock, Du swaps Cui Ye’s suitcases with bomb-laden replicas and hands him a detonator phone. Cui Ye sails off, looking tragically heroic… until his boat explodes into a fireball. Wang Hongyu gets the “mission accomplished” text, but Du—now holding two suitcases—ghosts him. Greedy henchman Glasses Guy stabs Du, only to find the suitcases stuffed with hell money. They kill each other in a hilariously bleak “surprise, losers!” moment.

Cui Ye’s 4D Chess Move

Turns out, Cui Ye predicted everyone’s greed. He planted four suitcases: two with hell money in locker #57, two empty ones at Hongyu Group’s front desk. Wang’s crew grabbed the fake #57 key, while Cui Ye snagged the real cash from locker #58. Masterstroke? Check. Getting his wife out of Hongyu Group? Check. Making Jin Xiasheng look like a clown? Double-check.

Leftovers:

  • Lin Bo, the shady boat owner, plays dumb when cops find blood on his rope… but he’s hiding a bag of cash under his desk.
  • Cui Wei’s team now thinks Qin Xiaoming blackmailed Wang Hongyu, but we know Cui Ye’s fingerprints are all over this mess.

Final Thought: Cui Ye’s the kind of guy who’d beat you at Go and steal your lunch money. When Jin asks if he’d still have ruined Wang Hongyu if he’d “cooperated,” Cui just… stares into the void. Chilling.

Next Episode: More explosions? More hell money? More Jin Xiasheng accidentally solving crimes? Stay tuned.
