Spoiler Alert
Episode 18 of With Love With You dials up the emotional tension and medical drama, giving us a closer look at the complicated sisterhood between Wang Yan and Wang Lingjun, and the burdens they're each carrying—some visible, some not.
A Soup, A Note, and a Secret Illness
The episode opens with Wang Yan pondering Wang Lingjun’s future. She's been thinking about suggesting further education, and it turns out Zhou Mengmeng’s cousin is studying design in Hong Kong. Convenient, right? Wang Yan considers asking for some insider info.
Meanwhile, Wang Lingjun has been on a quiet mission of care—showing up after work to cook for Wang Yan, leaving behind a warm meal and a handwritten note. Day after day, Wang Yan eats it all, no questions asked.
One day, while walking the dog with Gao Qian, Wang Yan brings up the topic again. Gao Qian suggests she let Wang Lingjun decide for herself—after all, she’s an adult now. Wise words, but before any more can be said, Wang Yan suddenly feels dizzy. With Gao Qian already out of sight, she barely manages to call an ambulance before passing out.
At the hospital, doctors deliver a harsh truth: Wang Yan’s health markers have hit the red zone. She’s been delaying surgery for far too long, and now it’s dangerously close to developing into hemolytic anemia. Yep, she’s been hiding a serious illness.
Clashing Dreams and Harsh Words
Wang Lingjun, still unaware of her sister’s condition, continues her daily routine of grocery runs and cooking. Wang Yan initially wants to tell her to stop but changes her mind and invites her to stay for dinner.
At dinner, Wang Yan finally brings up the idea of further studies in Hong Kong—graphic design or something in that realm. But Wang Lingjun shuts it down. She likes being a caregiver in Shenzhen. It’s not glamorous, but it’s meaningful to her. Wang Yan, clearly frustrated, pushes back, and the conversation quickly turns into a full-blown argument. In a moment of anger, Wang Yan says something hurtful enough to drive Wang Lingjun away.
Upset, Wang Lingjun vents to her friend Cao Kunkun. Cao, ever blunt, says if someone offered her a free ride abroad, she’d jump at the chance. She also casually drops the bomb that she’s planning to break up with Wei Dasheng.
Silence, Misunderstandings, and a Missed Call
Wang Yan wants to reach out but can’t bring herself to text Wang Lingjun directly. Instead, she messages her roommate. Unfortunately, Wang Lingjun overhears and, still nursing her pride, tells her roommate to lie—say she didn’t come back all night.
Elsewhere, Qiu Tian’s parents decide to bring him home to spend his final days together. His father gives Wang Lingjun a photo, thinking Le Chuan (who delivered it) is her boyfriend. She denies it, but his smile says he’s not convinced. Later, Wang Lingjun has a brief, snarky exchange with Le Chuan’s grandfather, just to keep things spicy.
Back at the Hospital…
Drama’s brewing in the hospital too. Ma Shang, an old colleague, returns, and Jia Changan warns Liao Fanmu to be on guard—Ma Shang didn’t come back empty-handed. Meanwhile, Wang Yan confides in Gao Qian that when it comes to Wang Lingjun, she just loses all patience. Gao Qian doesn’t mince words: Wang Lingjun is Wang Yan’s soft spot.
A new patient arrives, and Ma Shang volunteers as assistant on the case. Liao Fanmu helps Wang Lingjun land the caregiving assignment for that patient. During the diagnosis discussion, the professor ends up going with Liao Fanmu’s plan—open-chest surgery. He also wants both Liao Fanmu and Ma Shang to assist with an upcoming aortic dissection procedure.
Lingjun’s Inner Battle and a Midnight Emergency
Wang Lingjun eventually hears from her roommate that Wang Yan was alone at Nanjing Hospital getting an IV drip. She hesitates, then calls—but hangs up just as Wang Yan answers. When Wang Yan texts to ask what’s up, she lies and says it was a misdial.
That night, the patient she’s watching has a critical post-op episode—acute heart failure. Lingjun wastes no time, slams the emergency button, and the head nurse calls in Liao Fanmu, who rushes to stabilize the patient.
Final Thoughts
Episode 18 walks a tightrope between emotional vulnerability and professional resilience. Wang Yan’s pride and secrecy clash with her sister’s loyalty and stubbornness, while both silently care deeply for one another in their own ways. The episode leaves us asking: how much longer can Wang Yan hide her illness, and will Lingjun find out before it’s too late?
