With Love with You: Episode 21

Spoiler Alert

This episode of With Love with You delivers a warm, emotional, and sometimes painfully honest slice of life, as our characters juggle family, friendship, trauma, and even a surprise cat emergency—all while trying to figure out their place in the world.

Sister Bonding with a Side of Yogurt

We open with Wang Yan taking her younger sister, Wang Lingjun, on a supermarket run to lift her spirits. It’s not just a grocery trip—it’s a nostalgia trip. The two reminisce about their childhood, teasing each other over yogurt flavors and supermarket habits. Wang Lingjun gets annoyed that Wang Yan always picks items from the front of the shelf, but Wang Yan, ever the practical one, explains: she used to work as a stock clerk and knows the freshest items are usually already pulled for promotions.

Wang Yan reveals more about her past struggles—working multiple jobs abroad just to survive. Now financially free, she's learned to appreciate money, though she agrees with Lingjun's belief: you can be happy without money, but having it sure makes things easier. Their little grocery outing racks up a 600 RMB total, and ironically, the same Wang Lingjun who joked about milking Wang Yan for all she’s worth ends up anxiously checking the receipt all the way home.

Middle-of-the-Night Cat Drama

As if their day wasn’t eventful enough, Wang Yan barely gets any sleep before being woken up by—surprise!—a cat in labor. The kitten Lingjun had been taking care of is struggling through a difficult birth. Despite Lingjun’s experience with cats, this one’s in trouble. Wang Yan rushes both of them to the vet, where they learn the cat has pancreatitis on top of a difficult delivery and needs to be hospitalized.

Wang Yan, ever the realist, makes it clear: she’s not about to adopt four kittens and one Wang Lingjun. Lingjun asks how many cats she can take. Wang Yan? “Zero.” Ouch.

Annoyed by the sudden change of tone, Lingjun hops out of the car and heads toward Puxing Hospital, where she runs into Le Chuan. She cleverly uses the box of peach pastries Le Chuan bought as a gift for her grandfather to “gift” them herself and also hints at needing help with the cat situation.

New Jobs, Bruised Hands, and Old Wounds

Elsewhere, Cao Kunkun gets accidentally injured when something falls on her hand. Luckily, Liao Fanmu is nearby and tends to her wound—complete with sweet, nurse-like concern. Kunkun throws some shade, though, joking that he’s so nice to everyone, it’s no wonder people like Wang Lingjun get taken advantage of, and even Lin Yilin steps up for him.

Fanmu tries to defend himself, saying he lacks confidence. But Kunkun’s not buying it. She’s starting from scratch in a new city too, yet doesn’t feel helpless. She even offers to ask some of her grandfather’s old war buddies if they’d be willing to take in a cat. Meanwhile, Le Chuan offers to help Lingjun find a temp job—not a dream gig, but something to help her stay afloat.

Workplace Politics & Pain

Back at the office, Li Fei learns that the business development team scored the coveted 10th anniversary campaign for Leshi. She rushes to Gao Qian to throw her name in the ring, only to discover he did recommend her... but Fang Li shut it down, citing her lack of experience and deciding to hand the project to Wang Yan instead.

Li Fei confronts Fang Li and gets hit with a dose of classic corporate bullying. It’s a crushing moment. She had hoped that moving from Hong Kong to Shenzhen would be her big break—but it feels like she’s still stuck under the same glass ceiling.

Wang Yan, meanwhile, is already at full capacity work-wise and needs to reorganize before she can even consider taking on the new project.

Family Tensions and Tough Conversations

Le Chuan spends time with his grandfather, whose health is clearly fragile—not just physically, but emotionally. When Le Chuan admits he’s not the man his grandfather hoped he’d become, the old man is so upset he ends up vomiting. It turns out to be a minor flare-up, but doctors warn that his stomach issues are stress-related, and he needs surgery soon. Le Chuan, heartbroken, tries to convince his grandfather to go through with it.

Laundry, Grit, and Guard Cats

After kicking Wei Dasheng out of her life, Cao Kunkun opens a laundromat with living quarters upstairs. Wang Lingjun is seriously impressed—Kunkun poured all her savings into this bold new chapter. Lingjun offers to lend her a “guard cat” to keep watch over the shop.

Later, Lingjun returns to Wang Yan’s place and messages Kunkun about the old days—like that unforgettable time Wang Yan stormed into an internet café to drag her out. Kunkun remembers it like it was yesterday.

Final Thoughts

This episode gives us a little bit of everything: sisterly love, cute cats, emotional blow-ups, workplace drama, and the quiet resilience of women starting over. There's no big twist or dramatic cliffhanger—just a heartfelt reminder that growing up means facing the hard stuff, but also finding strength in the people around you.

And maybe... in a peach pastry or two.
