With Love with You: Episode 22

Spoiler Alert

Episode 22 of With Love with You kicks off with a reminder that, sometimes, adulting is just a never-ending pile of receipts and awkward favors. Wang Lingjun is busy balancing her books when Wang Yan casually asks her to write an IOU for a 5,000 yuan pet deposit. She doesn’t make a fuss—just grabs a pen. That’s adult friendship in a nutshell: passive-aggressive debt and mutual tolerance.

Meanwhile, Cao Kunkun gets a call from her dad with some tough news—her grandmother’s out of meds and they can only be bought at Huaxi Hospital. Oh, and they’re low on cash. Oof. After a deep breath and some internal pep talk, Kunkun calls Liao Fanmu for help. He comes through, taking her to the hospital and consulting with a specialist. The verdict? The meds require the patient to be present and hospitalized. Another option is Huaxi Hospital again, but either way, Grandma has to show up in person. Kunkun’s touched and insists on buying Fanmu dinner as a thank-you.

Back in the chaos of pet ownership and poor communication, Wang Yan gets a call from the vet clinic during work. Furious, she rings up Wang Lingjun, warning her to never leave her number at the pet hospital again—or the next bill's on Lingjun. Lingjun’s already having a rough day. Job-hunting in Shenzhen is brutal, especially with zero work experience. Feeling beat down, she remembers that Le Chuan once offered to hook her up with a temp job. She gives him a call and heads to his studio.

Le Chuan asks a very important question: “Do you want a stable job… or fast cash?” Lingjun, with the speed of someone behind on rent, picks fast cash. Then, belatedly, she asks, “Wait… it’s not illegal, right?” Le Chuan can’t help but laugh. This girl is too pure.

Turns out, Le Chuan is helping staff a major 10th-anniversary event for Le Shi, which needs tons of hands. Li Fei, ever the strategist, offers to connect Wang Yan with some freelancers to help out. Wang Yan declines, but Li Fei isn’t giving up that easily.

Lingjun’s first gig? A “crowd warmer” role—basically hyping up the event. It pays 500 yuan a day. Unfortunately, her coordination is… not great. She gets bumped to a new role: alcohol delivery girl. Not exactly better. On her first night, a drunk creep harasses her, even groping her leg and asking her to drink with him. Le Chuan wants to call the cops, but Lingjun, embarrassed, just wants to forget it.

Later that night, Wang Yan returns home with a fever. She tries to hide it, but Lingjun notices the thermometer cap and figures it out. She gives her medicine and helps pack her suitcase for a business trip the next day.

Once in Hong Kong, Wang Yan dives straight into work. But Yuan Yi, the Greater China regional director, keeps stalling the project, claiming the budget’s still unclear. When Wang Yan can’t reach Gao Qian on the phone, she leaves him a message. Surprise—he shows up in person. Wang Yan wastes no time and tells him Yuan Yi is hinting at wanting a kickback. Gao says he’ll handle it.

Then, things get sketchy. Wang Yan spots a photo on Li Fei’s social feed—Gao Qian’s side profile is clearly in the background. She asks him if he came to Hong Kong alone. He lies. She brings up Li Fei, and he pretends not to know anything. Wang Yan doesn’t call him out, but she’s no fool. She knows Gao Qian is hiding something.

Back in Shenzhen, Le Chuan notices Lingjun didn’t show up for her gig. He checks in on her and even transfers her day’s pay, no questions asked. Oh, and bonus good news: the kitten she’s been caring for just got adopted.

Meanwhile, Gao Qian decides to stay an extra day in Hong Kong to hang out with Wang Yan. He takes her to a bar after work to help her unwind. But just as the romantic tension builds, Li Fei is busy making her next move. She recruits Lang Zai to help her dig into Wang Yan’s project files. Li Fei isn’t giving up the fight—not by a long shot.
