With Love with You: Episode 6

Spoiler Alert

Things are getting real messy in Episode 6 of With Love with You, and the dinner that was supposed to bring two families together turns into a full-blown emotional minefield.

So here’s what went down:

Family Dinner Disaster

The episode kicks off at a tense family dinner. Liao Fanmu quietly pleads with Wang Yan, trying to keep things civil. Wang Yan, visibly annoyed, holds it together for the sake of their parents. But when Wang Lingjun chimes in, Wang Yan snaps—she's furious that both Fanmu and Lingjun kept things from her. Liao’s mom steps in, trying to smooth things over, blaming Wang Yan’s mood on work stress. Fanmu tries to cover for Wang Yan, even punishes herself for making decisions on her own, all while the rest of the table awkwardly tries to keep the peace.

But the tension hits a whole new level when Liao’s mom casually drops a bomb: once Fanmu and Wang Yan get married, she and Liao’s dad plan to move to Shenzhen to help take care of them—and even brings up having kids. Yep, she’s already planning for grandbabies.

She then pulls out a bank card—not a gift, but reimbursement. Apparently, Fanmu told her Wang Yan paid for all the furniture in their future home, and Liao’s mom wants to pay her back. That’s the last straw for Wang Yan.

The Truth Comes Out

Wang Yan stands up and finally spills everything. She never bought any furniture. She and Fanmu went to the hospital—she can’t have children, and she’s not planning to try. Most importantly: they broke up already. She had no idea about this so-called proposal, and she does not want to marry him.

Liao’s mom immediately loses it, insulting Wang Yan for being “sick” and dragging her younger sister Wang Lingjun into it, calling her a burden. Yikes.

Wang Yan keeps her cool, refusing to argue with elders, but just wants this whole nightmare to end without her family being further humiliated.

‍⚕️ Tragedy Strikes

After Liao’s family storms out, Wang Yan’s father demands some answers. She explains everything—her choice not to marry, not to have kids—and he loses it, slapping her in a fit of rage. Moments later, he collapses. It’s a heart attack. They rush him to the hospital.

Thankfully, he pulls through for now, but bypass surgery is needed. And guess who’s supposed to perform it? Yep—Liao Fanmu. Talk about complicated.

Liao’s mom is furious, but Fanmu still believes Wang Yan is the one, and he’s not ready to give up on her.

️ In the Hospital

Liao’s mom asks Wang Lingjun to stay at the hospital to keep an eye on Wang Yan’s dad. Meanwhile, she takes Wang Yan home for a heart-to-heart.

Their conversation? A generational clash in full swing. Wang Yan wants to focus on her career and stand on her own two feet. Liao’s mom, however, believes in finding someone to lean on—someone who’ll “hold the umbrella and heat up your food,” as she puts it. Wang Yan, though clearly exhausted, promises to think it over.

Back at the hospital, Wang Lingjun chats with her dad. He wants to know what really happened between Wang Yan and Fanmu. Lingjun plays dumb, calling herself a pawn in the whole mess, then quickly ducks out of the room.

Trouble at Work

Meanwhile, at Lingyue, Zhao, a major client, learns that Li Fei has taken over as the project lead from Wang Yan. He’s not impressed. Despite her sweet talk, there’s no real progress or visuals to show. Zhao doesn’t mince words—if Wang Yan isn’t reinstated on the project, he’s ready to pull the plug and pay the penalty himself.

Li Fei’s junior team member rushes to tell Zhou Mengmeng about the situation. Li Fei, clearly rattled, hesitates on whether to call her boss Fang Li, but ends up dialing Gao Qian instead. Uh-oh.

Final Thoughts

Episode 6 is a deep dive into emotional chaos—from family dysfunction to medical emergencies, romantic delusions to career sabotage. Wang Yan is stuck between doing what’s expected of her and living life on her own terms, and the fallout is hitting every part of her life—personal and professional.
