“Wanna Be” Episode 23 Recap & Spoilers
Drama, tension, and designer drama—Episode 23 brings the heat.
Episode 23 of Wanna Be picks up with Jia Fan and Xing Mo quietly supporting each other as they leave Han Yijing’s house. Jia Fan thanks Xing Mo for his help, but Xing Mo flips the script and says he should be the one saying thanks. No explanation, no follow-up—just more mystery between these two.
Meanwhile, CEO Ling is spending the night at Han Yijing’s place (yes, you read that right!), and she’s absolutely glowing. Yijing tells her that if she could always be as relaxed as tonight, maybe people wouldn’t dislike her so much—and maybe Xing Mo wouldn’t have to work so hard to keep the peace. As they're heading upstairs, Yijing throws in a surprise “Happy Birthday,” and CEO Ling reveals her birthday wish: for Yijing and Jia Fan to break up peacefully. Oof. Yijing doesn’t even respond—just hits her with a “wishes don’t come true if you say them out loud.” Savage, but subtle.
Later, Yijing tells Jia Fan that CEO Ling was genuinely happy tonight—she just has too much pride to show it. Jia Fan wants to open up about his eye condition, but when Yijing simply says goodnight, he quietly deletes the message he was typing. The heartbreak is real.
Elsewhere, You Ning confronts Liao Jinyuan about the company wanting her to switch careers and become an actress. He encourages her to go for it—it’s a big opportunity. But just outside, Huang Jinde is lying in wait for Liao and ends up running into You Ning instead. She shuts him down hard, saying there’s nothing going on between her, Liao, or Yijing and Jia Fan. But Huang knows her too well—she’s protesting a little too much. Suspicions: confirmed (at least in his head).
You Ning calls Yijing to let her listen in on the whole conversation, apologizing and warning her to be careful. Loyalty points secured.
Meanwhile, Jia Fan’s got some unexpected cheerleaders—literally. Dong Xiaoru’s mom is rallying seafood market customers to follow Jia Fan and support his career. Jia Fan’s too embarrassed to even work. Dong Xiaoru wants to know what’s going on, and her mom proudly credits her new hire, Xiao Wang. Right on cue, Jia Fan’s model squad from Moyi Road struts in like it’s fashion week at the fish market. Turns out, ever since Jia Fan blew up, designers have been flocking to Moyi Road trying to work with him. CEO Ling? Not thrilled.
Especially when a hotshot Spanish designer, Panio, shows up—clearly only interested in Jia Fan. CEO Ling tries to push Xing Mo, but Panio’s not biting. Later, in a meeting, CEO Ling casually says she can set up a meeting with Jia Fan anytime. And just like that, she shows up at the seafood store.
Jia Fan knows her hesitation is all about his eye condition, so he reassures her: he’s been checked out, and he’s fine. But CEO Ling hits him with cold logic—she can’t hand Han Yijing over to a “ticking time bomb.” What if the condition comes back? What then?
Overhearing a call between Wu Ming and CEO Ling, Han Yijing learns that CEO Ling has been digging up contacts for top ophthalmologists around the world—for Jia Fan. Wu Ming asks Yijing to understand where she’s coming from. Yijing pieces it all together: CEO Ling’s harshness is just worry in disguise. She asks CEO Ling to keep it between them and promises to handle things her way.
Back at home, Jia Fan’s dad tells him Yijing sent over a pile of gifts. Jia Fan says to just accept them. But when his dad asks when he’s finally going to tell Yijing the truth about his eyes, Jia Fan looks crushed. He knows he can’t avoid it much longer.
The episode ends with a cliffhanger: Huang Jinde calls CEO Ling and says he’s sitting on explosive gossip—something huge about Han Yijing.
