Wanna Be – Episode 25 Recap & Spoilers
Things are heating up in Episode 25 of Wanna Be, and the drama is delivering everything from emotional confrontations to hidden truths finally bubbling to the surface.
We kick things off with Liao Jinyuan questioning Xing Mo about whether CEO Ling secretly arranged medical help for Jia Fan’s father. Xing Mo immediately shuts that theory down. According to him, CEO Ling isn’t exactly the charitable type—she’s a cold, calculating businesswoman who only cares about profits. Liao Jinyuan agrees. A warm, selfless gesture? Definitely not her brand.
Later, Liao Jinyuan pays a visit to Jia Fan’s home. While snooping around, he runs into Jia Fan’s father, who’s using a bamboo stick to walk. Mistaking Jinyuan for his son, the old man reminds him to go back to the hospital for an eye check-up. Meanwhile, Jia Fan wraps up a successful shoot. Panio, presumably their client or team lead, is thrilled and wants to throw a celebration. Even though Jia Fan’s eyes are clearly bothering him, he doesn’t want to miss out and ends up going with Wu Ming.
At the hospital, Han Yijing gets a stern warning from her doctor: stop popping painkillers like candy. But she brushes it off—she’s got a major show coming up on Moyi Road next month and promises to rest afterward. Classic "just one more push" mentality.
Back at Moyi Road HQ, CEO Ling wants Xing Mo to open the show. Wu Ming drops a bomb—Xing Mo has already started the process of terminating his contract. And according to company policy, he can’t participate in any events during that period. So, that’s a hard no.
Things take a turn when a drunken Liao Jinyuan bumps into Jia Fan at a bar. Fueled by rage and frustration, he challenges Jia Fan to a one-on-one basketball game. But it’s not just a game—Liao Jinyuan plays rough and knocks Jia Fan to the ground multiple times. Jia Fan is completely confused until Liao Jinyuan finally explodes: Han Yijing has been through hell and back, and now she’s dealing with someone like Jia Fan, who’s been hiding his health issues. Just as Jinyuan gets ready to take another swing, Xing Mo shows up.
Xing Mo tries to cool things down, pointing out that Liao Jinyuan hasn’t exactly had it easy either. He’s been carrying regrets for years, especially about his relationship with Han Yijing. It’s clear he’s the one who never really moved on. Jia Fan admits he probably deserves the anger, understanding exactly why Jinyuan is lashing out. When Jia Fan turns to Xing Mo and asks why he’s ending his contract, Xing Mo keeps it vague—just says he’s tired and wants to enjoy life for a change.
Back at the company, Han Yijing catches Jia Fan coming in and chews him out. Unfortunately, she’s not the only one sneaking around—other team members get caught too. She switches into mentor mode, reminding them how important the upcoming public showcase is and that they need to be at the top of their game.
Later that night, Jia Fan hears Dong Xiaoru shouting about a fire and rushes out—only to find that she was just excited to bring back a big poster of him. His father comes close to the poster, examining it with a mix of pride and emotion. It’s a small but touching moment.
And then we get the biggest emotional gut-punch of the episode: Liao Jinyuan meets with CEO Ling. After finishing up their business talk, Jinyuan shifts the conversation to something more personal. Ling doesn’t hide anything—she admits she knew about Jia Fan’s eye condition even before he joined Moyi Road, and that Han Yijing already knows too.
Jinyuan is confused. Why did she tear him and Han Yijing apart years ago, but now she’s okay with Jia Fan being with her? Ling’s answer is heartbreaking: Han Yijing almost died in a car accident back then. She’s only just started getting her life together again. Ling doesn't want to make the same mistakes. Her apology is sincere—she says everything she did back then was for Han Yijing’s career. But now, she’s done interfering. She begs Liao Jinyuan to do the same and just be a bystander. She knows from experience that trying to control love only backfires.
Final Thoughts:
Episode 25 peels back the layers on multiple characters, revealing regrets, past mistakes, and the pain that comes with trying to protect the ones you love. It’s a slower-paced episode emotionally, but it hits hard. With secrets out and tensions high, the stage is set for even bigger confrontations ahead.
Stay tuned. Things are only getting more complicated from here.
