Spoiler Alert
Things are heating up and winding down in all the best (and tear-jerking) ways in Episode 29 of Wanna Be. This episode is all about goodbyes, reconciliations, and long-awaited new beginnings.
Liao Jinyuan Says Goodbye
Liao Jinyuan is officially packing up and leaving Qixiang. But before he goes, he does something shocking: he initiates hanging out with You Ning. Yep — he asks her to get noodles. It's their first real "date," and You Ning is so nervous she gets all dolled up and even bribes the restaurant owner to serve noodles every five minutes so they won’t get soggy if he’s late. (Relatable.)
During their meal, Liao tells her he’s heading back to photography — in the UK. He encourages her to keep chasing her acting dreams and promises that if she wins an award, she should come find him. On his way out, You Ning runs after him, breathlessly asking if she’s the last person he wanted to see before leaving. He smiles and says yes. That’s all it takes — she throws herself into his arms, crying and promising she’ll work hard, win awards, and go see him. And when she does, she wants him to stop treating her like a kid — girlfriend or not.
Tough Love with Jia Fan and His Dad
Jia Fan’s dad is scheduled for surgery, but here's the catch: he refuses to let Jia Fan be the donor. He says if Jia Fan insists, he’ll cancel the operation altogether. Jia Fan, emotional and stubborn, fires back — if his dad won’t do the surgery, then he’s not going abroad either.
Things escalate quickly — dad grabs a slipper (yes, a slipper), ready to smack some sense into his son. Turns out Jia Fan inherited the same eye condition and might need the surgery himself. This is news to Dong Xiaoru, who finds out just as Jia Fan tells her he recommended her for a styling assistant role with Moyi Road.
Reconciliation All Around
Early the next morning, Jia Fan wakes up and finds his dad gone. Turns out, Dad arranged for Dong Xiaoru to meet with Han Yijing to persuade Jia Fan to back off. Plot twist — Han Yijing isn't having it. Instead of convincing Jia Fan, she convinces Dad to go through with the surgery.
Later, Han Yijing runs into CEO Ling and invites her to eat. Over dinner, they have an emotional heart-to-heart. Yijing thanks her for everything, acknowledges how much she’s misunderstood her over the years, and breaks down crying. CEO Ling listens quietly, and the two finally reconcile — two strong women who've spent years putting up walls, finally letting them down.
Meanwhile, Jia Fan and his dad also make peace. Dad says once his eyes are fixed, he wants to see the man his son has become.
Career Breakthroughs & Confessions
You Ning's hustle pays off — big time. She wins Best Supporting Actress, and the moment she hears her name, she’s over the moon. She’s ready to hop on a flight to Turkey to see Liao Jinyuan. But her new manager, Shu Bo, is not having it. They bicker over her schedule, but You Ning's not backing down.
CEO Ling and Xing Mo's slow-burn romance is finally warming up. Xing Mo is still making her those blueberry-tuna sandwiches (a bold move), and surprisingly, she’s not pushing him away anymore.
The Big Show at Moyi Road
The Moyi Road fashion show is here, and it's a visual feast. The setting? A bamboo-filled venue, showcasing elegant modern-Chinese designs. CEO Ling and Xing Mo lock eyes across the room — not seated together, but clearly together in spirit.
Han Yijing, the star designer, takes her final bow to roaring applause. Just when you think the episode has peaked — surprise! Jia Fan storms in, fresh off the plane. He grabs Han Yijing, declares he’s staying to get his eyes treated, and — in front of everyone — kisses her. Talk about a mic drop moment. The two walk out hand-in-hand, finally aligned in love and life.
Final Thoughts:
Episode 29 is emotional in the best kind of way — full of heartfelt goodbyes, long overdue apologies, and bold new beginnings. With only a few episodes left, Wanna Be is setting the stage for a finale that’s bound to leave us all in our feelings.
