The Love of Charge Cars – Episode 12 Recap & Spoilers

Episode 12 of The Love of Charge Cars is a heavy one, packed with emotional landmines, long-buried guilt, and a kidnapping that sends shockwaves through the characters' already fragile lives.

Zhu Huaiyang and Ye Zhen: The Wounds That Won’t Heal

The episode opens with Zhu Huaiyang unable to sleep, folding a paper star and hanging it on the wall—clearly haunted by the memory of a painful decision he and Ye Zhen had to make about a child they lost. That trauma still lingers deeply.

Late at night, Ye Zhen calls him, asking for a cake he promised to bring. Zhu Huaiyang coldly says he didn’t bring it back and bluntly tells her to forget the child. Oof. That cuts deep. Ye Zhen hangs up on him, shuts out all his calls, and breaks down crying alone.

The next morning, Ye Zhen shows up to work with red, swollen eyes. Her fellow SWAT teammates immediately sense what’s wrong, but no one knows how to help. Lin Wanru shares a bit of her own grief—how she and her father spiraled after her mother’s death. Her father coped by throwing himself into intense training, especially pushing it on her. It’s a quiet moment of shared pain among women who are trained to be tough but still carry scars.

Emotions on the Range

At the shooting range, Ye Zhen vents her feelings through relentless target practice. From afar, An Tata watches silently, sensing her turmoil but unsure how to comfort her.

Meanwhile, Zhu Huaiyang keeps digging into the case of Wen Zi, uncovering that his real name was Feng Qidong—and here’s the twist: the man with the flashy gold watch who was found dead? That was Feng Qidong’s father, not A Wu. A Wu, long thought dead, is still alive. Zhu orders the team to find him ASAP.

An Unexpected Thank You

Ai Lian and Chen Yun’er show up at the station to thank Ye Zhen with a banner of appreciation. Coincidentally, they run into Zhu Huaiyang, and Ai Lian recognizes him from the past—he once helped her, and she offers to treat both him and Ye Zhen to dinner. Ye Zhen politely declines.

Chen Yun’er, meanwhile, asks if An Tata can come to her upcoming dance competition. An Tata, worried about letting the girl down, promises to come if she isn’t too busy—and even bring the whole SWAT team. The girl lights up with joy.

A Quiet Dinner, A Heavy Conversation

Later, Zhu Huaiyang cooks a full meal for Ye Zhen, trying to make amends. She forgives him, but the conversation turns serious. He finally opens up: the tragedy involving their child wasn’t her fault—it was revenge targeted at him because of his job. He urges her to let go of the guilt. Ye Zhen listens, but says nothing.

The Kidnapping

Elsewhere, Luo Zhongliang brings Li Na and their baby home from the hospital. But something’s off. He avoids holding the baby, giving the flimsy excuse that he’s “afraid.” But when Li Na insists, he still looks distant. In the middle of the night, he quietly takes the baby and disappears.

By morning, he's panicked—wandering the streets, injured, frantically searching for the child. Luckily, Ye Zhen is on patrol. She jumps into action, locking down the area and reviewing surveillance. Turns out the getaway car used fake plates.

Li Na, waking up to an empty house, is frantic. She eventually rushes to the scene, where Luo breaks down and tells her the baby is gone. Despite her heartbreak, she holds him, trying to be strong.

The Chase & Rescue

The woman who took the baby tries to hide when she sees police nearby. She stashes the child and ducks into the Jiacheng Hotel. Liu Danyang and her team arrive, but the staff haven't noticed anything suspicious. The team splits up.

An Tata finds a wig in the restroom. It clicks for Ye Zhen—she just saw a man in disguise walk past. They give chase, but the suspect is hit by a car and dies before they can interrogate him.

Lin Wanru later reviews surveillance and discovers the disguised man had hidden the baby in a cardboard box at a recycling center. Panic sets in—the box has already been taken to a waste processing facility. Ye Zhen races there, urgently ordering them to stop the machines. Thankfully, they find the baby just in time.

The Truth Comes Out

Back at the scene, Luo and Li Na are overwhelmed with gratitude. Luo asks what happened to the kidnapper. Ye Zhen hesitates, but Liu Danyang bluntly says, “He’s dead.” Ye Zhen glances at Luo—he looks… relieved?

That night, Luo suddenly kisses Li Na passionately, but she hears the baby cry and pushes him away, upset that he seems unfazed by their child's distress. And then—boom—Luo drops the bomb: "The baby isn’t mine." He wants to give the child away and start fresh with her, even saying he won’t hold the affair against her.

Li Na is devastated. She slaps him hard. He demands to know what really went on between her and Wang Shuai, accusing her of betrayal. But in a flashback, we see the truth: Li Na only warned Wang Shuai not to go down a criminal path. Wang had promised to help her pay off her debts, nothing more.
