The Love of Charge Cars: Episode 20

Spoiler Alert

Things Are Getting Seriously Twisted

Episode 20 of The Love of Charge Cars throws us headfirst into a tense, chaotic spiral of betrayal, manipulation, and a mother-daughter relationship that’s as fractured as the plot itself.

A Kidnapping Gone Off the Rails

Our favorite villains, Ma Tianze and Wu Qiang, are on the run with Xu Zifeng and Chen Lin in tow. After realizing the police are closing in, they abruptly stop the car and decide to change the plan. And by “change,” we mean Ma Tianze wants someone dead—specifically Chen Lin.

Wu Qiang is not feeling it. He’s terrified and flat-out refuses. But Ma Tianze? Cold as ice. He tells Wu Qiang it’s either Chen Lin or him. In a chilling standoff, Wu Qiang cracks. He drags Chen Lin into a nearby field, while Ma Tianze records everything for Xu Zifeng to watch from the car. Wu Qiang appears to stab Chen Lin with a bloodied knife as Xu Zifeng screams in horror.

But—it’s a setup. More on that twist later.

Let’s Make a Deal

Back at the car, Wu Qiang demands a million from Ma Tianze. Ma plays it cool, calms him down, and they drive off, knife discreetly tucked away.

Police arrive shortly after and find Chen Lin’s smashed phone. That’s when Lin Wanru learns from Xu Zheng that Chen Lin once sent a photo of Xu Zifeng to her estranged mother, Tian Fang, who never replied. Now, Tian Fang is suddenly in town, staying at a hotel in Binjiang. Suspicious? Oh, absolutely.

Lies, Ransom, and a Family That Just Doesn’t Talk

Ma Tianze calls Tian Fang, lying that Xu Zifeng’s been kidnapped and demanding ransom. Tian Fang doesn’t care about money—she just wants her granddaughter safe. Still, when Wanru and Mai Jialing confront her, she denies everything, including knowing Chen Lin or Xu Zifeng.

Wanru suspects something’s off. Tian Fang’s memory is shaky, her story full of gaps. Alzheimer’s? Seems likely. In her room, Wanru finds a photo of Xu Zifeng and gently urges Tian Fang to tell the truth—for her family’s safety.

Meanwhile, Ye Zhen and her team lose the trail but suspect the kidnappers may have doubled back. Wanru examines digital photos again and realizes some images showing Xu Zheng abusing Xu Zifeng are deepfakes—manipulated, possibly by Ma Tianze himself. Turns out, he’s Tian Fang’s nephew, and he’s been feeding her false stories to isolate her from Chen Lin.

Plot Twist: Chen Lin's Not Dead

Remember that bloody knife? Fake out. Wu Qiang didn’t kill Chen Lin—just wounded her arm and played the scene for Ma Tianze. Ye Zhen’s team finds her, alive.

Wanru convinces Tian Fang to call Ma Tianze again, pretending to arrange the ransom. Tianze catches on mid-call and hangs up, but not before the police trace the signal. He panics and wants to kill Xu Zifeng, but Wu Qiang argues that keeping her alive gives them leverage.

The Escape Attempt

Tianze leaves Wu Qiang to guard Xu Zifeng. Big mistake. Wu Qiang secretly frees her. But just as she tries to escape out a window—too slowly—Tianze returns. Wu Qiang covers for her, stalling until Ye Zhen and the team burst in.

Final Chase and One Last Betrayal

Tianze forces Wu Qiang into the car, trying to smash their way out. But mid-drive, Wu Qiang grabs him from behind, yelling at Xu Zifeng to run. The two fight violently in the car. Wu Qiang is injured, and Tianze speeds off alone.

The cavalry arrives. Wu Qiang is rushed to the hospital. Xu Zifeng and Chen Lin reunite in a tearful hug.

And the chase isn’t over—SWAT is hot on Ma Tianze’s trail as the episode ends in a high-speed pursuit.

Final Thoughts

This episode was intense. Layers of manipulation, emotional reveals, and last-minute rescues kept things moving at full throttle. With Ma Tianze still on the run and the truth about the photo scheme unraveling, things are far from over.

Stay tuned—because if this episode taught us one thing, it’s that no one escapes their past for long.
