“Love Again” – Episode 15 Recap & Spoilers
Episode 15 of Love Again takes us on an emotional rollercoaster, blending late-night confessions, heartache, and a whole lot of Kunqu Opera. So buckle up—we’ve got love triangles, chicken soup, and some serious midlife soul-searching.
A Heartfelt Confession Under the Stars
Shen Zhuoran and Nie Juanjuan take a moonlit stroll through Zixia Mountain. What starts as a peaceful walk quickly turns into something more meaningful as the two connect deeply. Zhuoran, clearly smitten, decides it's finally time to confess his feelings. But Juanjuan isn’t ready—she drops a heartbreaking truth: she had breast cancer ten years ago and underwent a mastectomy.
Her pain runs deeper than just illness. She’s seen more loss than most—her father died when she was a child, her brother passed not long after she started working, her husband succumbed to illness, and now her son lives overseas. After so many goodbyes, she’s come to accept life’s impermanence and just wants to live simply.
Heartbreak, Kunqu, and Chicken Soup
Zhuoran is crushed. He’s still grieving the loss of Jingmin, who also died of cancer, and now finds himself spiraling again. He’s lost in thought, wandering aimlessly downstairs, not eating or sleeping. Liu Lina notices immediately—this man is clearly lovesick.
Meanwhile, Peng Yulan is still holding out hope for Zhuoran. She whips up a pot of chicken soup and buys a magnolia plant, sending both to him via their mutual friend Sun Baoqin. But Baoqin isn’t having it—she bluntly tells Yulan to stop hanging onto one tree (read: man). Still, Yulan is determined to win him back.
Music Heals… Kind Of
Zhuoran drags himself to choir rehearsal, but his heart’s not in it. Friends Gou Bingqiang and Ding Mu try to cheer him up and suggest he call Juanjuan for guidance. She’s touched and sings a few lines of Kunqu Opera over the phone—Zhuoran is so inspired he weaves it into their rendition of “Jasmine Flower.”
Suddenly, he’s back to his old self, humming the tune at home, drinking Yulan’s soup, and even doing the dishes. Liu Lina spreads the news like wildfire, and Yulan is over the moon. She vows to cook even better meals for him—because clearly, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and a little Kunqu.
Trouble in Paradise
But it’s not all sunshine and melodies. Over at Shen Qing and Liu Lina’s place, things get a little awkward. Lina wants intimacy, but Qing brushes her off, claiming he’s tired. Later, she catches him checking out someone’s running route on social media—suspicious much?
Lina ropes him into singing and reciting poetry (he was a college top ten singer, after all), and posts the whole thing online. It quickly goes viral. Qing is mortified when his coworker An Ruifeng shares it, and even Ice Li (yes, that Ice Li) sees it.
Office Drama & Unspoken Regrets
At work, Qing proposes cost-cutting after the company slashes the budget by 18%. He pushes for faster drug development, but Dr. Qin objects—six months is too tight. Ice Li steps in to smooth things over with a compromise: outsource the basic experiments.
Meanwhile, Sun Baoqin is on a mission to matchmake Zhuoran and Yulan. She sings Yulan’s praises while throwing serious shade at Juanjuan. Lina is skeptical, but Baoqin makes a convincing case.
The Big Rehearsal Is Coming
The choir has a major joint rehearsal coming up, and Juanjuan is invited to be a guest coach. Zhuoran is so excited (and nervous) that he pulls out every shirt he owns, asking his daughter Shen Duole to help him pick the perfect outfit.
Baoqin delivers Yulan’s magnolia tree to Zhuoran and volunteers to cook lunch for the whole choir. She even drags Yulan into it, though Yulan is stressing about reading books to impress Zhuoran. Turns out she never got to pursue her studies because her ex-husband held her back. Baoqin encourages her—it’s never too late.
Shen Family Surveillance
Meanwhile, Shen Dai has been watching Zhuoran via home surveillance (yes, really). She calls Lina to ask what he’s been up to and learns about the choir activities. Dai demands a livestream of the upcoming rehearsal.
Back at home, Shen Qing tries to play off his recent weight loss when Dai notices. Clearly, he’s got more than just work on his mind.
Final Thoughts:
Episode 15 is all about longing—for love, for the past, for a simpler life. Shen Zhuoran and Nie Juanjuan’s relationship is tender but complicated. Peng Yulan’s persistence is oddly endearing. And Liu Lina... well, she’s definitely not giving up on her own romance either. With the big rehearsal on the horizon, it looks like music might just bring some of these tangled threads together—or unravel them further.
