Spoiler Alert
Episode 29 of Love Again is packed with family drama, silent feuds, financial headaches, and more than a few passive-aggressive tea moments. Here's everything that went down—brace yourself.
Back to the Ancestral Home
Liu Debao returns to his family’s ancestral home for a big event—the newly renovated ancestral hall is finally complete. He brings along Sun Baoqin, Liu Lina, and Shen Duole for the occasion. At the ceremony, Debao proudly introduces Shen Duole to the extended Liu clan and shows off a plaque written by Shen Zhuoran. Everything seems picture-perfect—until it isn’t.
Enter Liu Dong, who pitches the idea of a family plot at the fancy Tianshan Cemetery. The Liu family is intrigued—until they hear the price: 88,000 yuan for a double plot. That enthusiasm? Gone in a flash.
Money, Pride & Public Embarrassment
Debao still wants to buy the cemetery plot, but Sun Baoqin shuts it down hard. She even calls him out publicly for borrowing money from his in-laws to renovate the ancestral hall. Ouch. Debao is humiliated and furious, forced to swallow his pride in front of everyone.
Liu Lina tries to do damage control, pulling Baoqin aside to calm her down, while Shen Duole steps in with some symbolic peace offering: a cold herbal tea. Because nothing says “let’s not fight” like cooling down—literally.
Cold War in the Car Ride Home
At the official ancestral hall ceremony, Debao attends alone because Baoqin refuses to go out of spite. On the ride back, the tension is palpable. Debao and Baoqin are giving each other the silent treatment, and even Lina and Duole sit quietly, not daring to breathe too loudly.
Then, Duole stumbles upon a photo of Shen Zhuoran dressed like Xu Wenqiang (a classic film noir character). The photo was taken by Le Shuishan, who really made Zhuoran look suave. Duole shows the pic to Lina, which somehow triggers Baoqin into comparing Zhuoran to Debao—completely trashing Debao in the process. He’s left speechless. Again.
Science, Stress & Setbacks
Meanwhile, Dr. Qin and the cancer research team are racing against time to complete Phase 3 of their clinical trials. The funding is running dangerously low, and the expected investment from Shide Corporation hasn't come through. An Ruifeng is panicking and urges Shen Qing to follow up with Ice Li, their main contact at Shide.
But there's a problem—Ice Li is on leave to care for her father, who’s just been diagnosed with late-stage cancer. Shen Qing tries to reach out but can’t bring himself to ask for help under such personal circumstances.
Uniform Drama & Unspoken Romance
Liu Lina is also juggling stress at work. Unable to afford a designer, she creates the school uniform design herself—and it gets unanimous approval from the school board. She’s thrilled. Xiao Bai is thrilled for her, too. When she cuts her hand during a presentation, he literally pulls over to buy medicine and bandages her wound. Cue the warm fuzzy feelings.
Later, Lina notices "Xilehui" (a wellness product) materials in Xiao Bai’s car. He explains the product, and Lina is tempted to invest. But since all her money went to help Shen Qing, she hesitates—still, she takes the info home.
Tough Calls & Harsh Truths
Back to Shen Qing—he finally calls Ice Li. Her father’s cancer has metastasized and surgery is no longer an option. Shen Qing can’t bring himself to ask for her help with funding. Meanwhile, Lina comes home excited to share her design success, but Shen Qing points out that her design looks an awful lot like Shen Duole’s. And it’s not just him—Principal Zhang calls to say the design resembles another school's uniforms. Lina agrees to revise it, albeit reluctantly.
Marital Meltdown
The Liu household is ice-cold. Baoqin is beyond angry at Debao and calls out all the disrespect she’s faced from his family. The argument escalates, and she threatens divorce—going as far as splitting up their assets.
Desperate, Debao calls in Lina to mediate. Baoqin lays down her terms:
- After she dies, she refuses to be buried in Debao’s hometown.
- No buying cemetery plots there.
- No borrowing money from Lina’s in-laws ever again.
Debao storms off. Lina tries to calm him down and secretly transfers him 10,000 yuan to buy the plot anyway. Smooth, but probably not going to end well.
A Risky Investment Plan
With the school breathing down her neck and no money for a professional redesign, Lina visits Xiao Bai at the bank to discuss a small business loan. But guess what? You can’t use a business loan to buy a cemetery plot. Xiao Bai offers to lend her money, but Lina declines. Instead, she hatches a plan: use the business loan to invest in Xilehui and use the profits to buy the plot later.
Xiao Bai, ever the supportive sidekick/love interest, thinks it’s a solid plan.
