"Love Again" Episode 5: Family Feuds, Scented Drama & Hospital Chaos

Where passive-aggressive candle wars meet very awkward family reunions...

A year after Jingmin’s death, widower Shen Zhuoran has officially moved on – way too fast for his daughter Shen Dai’s liking. The prodigal daughter storms home from America upon discovering her dad’s new live-in girlfriend: hospital matron Lian Yilian. Cue the family fireworks!

Candlegate

Dai confronts Zhuoran, demanding he kick out the "homewrecker." But Yilian plays the saint card: "I just want to care for him!" Unconvinced, Dai lights her late mother’s favorite incense to mourn… only for Zhuoran to snuff it out when Yilian (allergic) starts coughing. Score one for Team New Girlfriend.

The scent wars escalate overnight: Yilian passive-aggressively relights the incense next morning (suffering through a mask), while Dai sneak-blows it out like a ninja. Zhuoran, oblivious in his post-workout glow, cooks "romantic noodles" for Yilian. Enter Liu Lina, Zhuoran’s daughter-in-law, who side-eyes the whole "noodle love language" and roasts her own husband Shen Qing for lacking flair.

Ghosts of Exes Past

Dai escapes to an art gallery… and bumps into her married ex-lover Lao Liang (awkward turtle alert!). Flashbacks reveal their scandalous affair ended when Liang’s wife publicly humiliated Dai, prompting her U.S. exile. Now divorced, Liang tries to rekindle sparks – but Dai bolts faster than you can say "emotional baggage."

Fishy Business & Family Roasts

Liu Debao (Lina’s brother) delivers a freshly caught fish to Zhuoran, triggering Dai’s seafood phobia (drama queen screams included). Later, Yilian stews the fish into a family dinner that goes full dumpster fire: Dai sulks with greens, mocks Shen Qing’s family, and storms off mid-meal.

Hospital Hijinks

Dai’s stomachache turns dire – Yilian heroically cracks her door code (using Zhuoran’s birthday, natch) and calls an ambulance. Diagnosis: ruptured ovarian cyst from past abortion trauma (cue tragic flashback of Dai’s rainy solo procedure). Surgery succeeds, but Dai snarls at Yilian’s kindness.

The hospital stay gets messy:

  • Lina nearly overflows Dai’s pee bag, earning cackles from roommates.
  • Midnight pain screams lead to Lina fighting judgmental patients ("Single women problems, amirite?").
  • A sneezing Lina gets booted as caretaker by germaphobe doctors.

Meanwhile, in Soap Opera Subplots…

  • Yilian’s fishing trip plans with Zhuoran ("I’ll learn to love worms for you!")
  • Liu Debao’s wife Sun Baoqin finds cash in his pocket, sparking suspicions of Lina’s secret sibling subsidies.

The Takeaway:

This family needs group therapy more than candles, fish, or anyone’s "romantic noodles." Tune in next time for more passive-aggressive caretaking, questionable life choices, and guaranteed drama in shared hospital rooms.
