Spoiler Alert

Episode 15 of Green Hills Are Home kicks off with a quiet but tense evening conversation. Dong Dalin brings up his mother's suggestion to his wife, Feng Qiulan — that she should move to the city to accompany Dong Xin for his studies. But Qiulan’s not on board. For one, Dong Xin isn’t her biological son, and for another, she’s not ready to leave Dalin behind. Dalin, however, believes his mom's advice might be worth considering and gently urges Qiulan to give it some real thought. Meanwhile, Grandpa Dong is suspicious of Chen Ling’s sudden friendliness and wonders what she’s really after. Grandma Dong doesn’t beat around the bush — she’s convinced Chen Ling is up to something and likely wants something from Qiulan.

The next morning, Sis-in-law Feng wastes no time and already has someone looking for a school for Dong Xin in the city. Chen Ling, ever strategic, hands her some money to buy gifts for networking. But Grandma Dong, wary of Chen Ling’s motives, pushes Grandpa Dong to call Dong Erlin before Chen Ling can manipulate the situation.

Speaking of Erlin — he’s far from all this family drama. He’s off on a romantic rendezvous with Hua’er, and things are getting steamy. Hua’er, ever the planner, even drops a reminder about her upcoming birthday.

Back in the village, Dalin's green farming initiative is finally bearing fruit — literally. Villagers, seeing the success, are now eager to join his cooperative. Dalin tours the fields with Assistant Zhao and Wang Zhiyuan. Wang is impressed and wants their company, Lüfeng, to get involved ASAP. Zhao explains that HQ is on board, but only if Dalin fronts ¥1 million. Dalin doesn’t flinch.

When Erlin finally returns home — after getting an urgent call — Grandma Dong lays down the law. If he’s headed to the city, he’s going with Chen Ling. If not, then Feng Qiulan will go instead. Erlin’s indecision prompts Grandma Dong to make the call herself, summoning Qiulan.

Meanwhile, villagers are lining up at Dalin’s door, eager to join the cooperative now that both the village and Lüfeng are rumored to back him. Dalin’s thrilled but remains practical — he tells Qiulan to make sure Grandpa Dong’s investment money is secured. He also reminds the villagers: joining the co-op means playing by the rules. Green farming isn’t just a label — it comes with strict standards.

Qiulan swings by the family home to talk to Grandma Dong. She asks to borrow ¥1 million for the project. Grandma Dong agrees — on the condition that Qiulan goes to the city to accompany Dong Xin. When Chen Ling catches wind of this, she’s not happy. She grumbles about Grandma Dong meddling too much but admits that if she were offered that kind of money, she’d agree to anything. Erlin, disgusted by her materialism, storms out — he’s already decided Hua’er is the one for him. It’s her birthday after all, and he’s not about to miss it.

Later, Chen Ling corners Qiulan and tries to rope her into investing in Boss Lin’s highway project. She cloaks it in concern for Dong Xin’s future — education expenses, housing, marriage — but Qiulan sees through it. It’s not about investment; it’s about getting Grandpa Dong’s compensation money.

Elsewhere, Dong Laoge is wandering the village and hears nothing but praise for Dalin’s green farming. Inspired, he decides to back his eldest son financially. Chen Ling, striking out everywhere, tries to tempt him with high returns — but he’s not biting. He’s all in on Dalin.

Dalin, moving full speed ahead, introduces hornets into the fields as a form of biological pest control. It goes well — until Old Jiang, a tenant farmer, uses illegal pesticides and kills the hornets. A heated confrontation follows. Chen Ling, already on edge, seizes the moment to stir the pot. She accuses Dalin of illegally sourcing soil, and Sis-in-law Feng fans the flames by threatening to call the cops. Chen Ling pretends to play peacemaker, but it's clear she’s angry and looking for chaos.

Meanwhile, Erlin is out celebrating Hua’er’s birthday with steak and karaoke. Unfortunately, they run into his younger brother-in-law, Yang Daguo. Awkward.

The episode ends with a late-night dash — Grandma and Grandpa Dong rush to Dalin and hand him a bank card. Dalin jumps on his bike with Qiulan, heading straight for the city. Big changes are coming, and the stakes just got a whole lot higher.

TL;DR:

Family tensions rise over who should accompany Dong Xin to the city. Dalin’s green farming success attracts attention and investment, but also sparks conflict. Chen Ling’s scheming continues to backfire, and Erlin’s heart clearly lies with Hua’er. The episode ends with Dalin and Qiulan racing to the city — money in hand and dreams on the line.
