Green Hills Are Home Episode 4: Land Wars and Teenage Drama

Feng Qiulan’s Hustle Backfires

When the elderly Dong parents announce their retirement from managing the family land, Feng Qiulan (played by our favorite scheming matriarch) immediately jumps to the conclusion that the property will fall into her husband Dong Dalin’s hands. She excitedly warns her son Binzi’s wife to prep for next year’s "green farming cooperative" initiative. But hold your horses, Feng—this family’s about to drop more bombs than a K-drama cliffhanger.

Grandma Dong’s Midnight Court

That night, Grandma Dong summons the whole clan for an emergency meeting. Enter Chen Ling (Dong Erlin’s wife and resident troublemaker), who just happens to mention catching teenage cousin Dong Peng having a very emotional goodbye with classmate Wang Wei in the woods. Cue the dramatic gasps! Feng Qiulan storms home, drags Dong Peng into an interrogation, and accuses him of puppy love. The poor kid insists he was just saying farewell to a friend moving to the city for school. Grandpa Dong smugly praises his grandson for staying local, while sharp-eyed Grandma Dong sees right through Chen Ling’s attempt to sabotage Dalin’s family.

Land Contracts & Family Feuds

The real chaos erupts during the property discussion. Just as Grandma Dong declares she’ll move in with Dalin’s family, Grandpa Dong drops the mic: he’s already leased the land… for five years, not three as claimed. Dalin nobly vows to care for his parents anyway, but Grandma tears into her clueless husband for "breaking their sons’ hearts." Meanwhile, Feng Qiulan fumes about being tricked—until Grandma Dong shows up at their doorstep with an apology tour. Feng plays the gracious daughter-in-law, offering the old couple their bedroom. Classic rural power move!

Teen Romance Gone Wrong

Poor Dong Peng’s having a rough day. After getting grounded by his mom, he misses his secret meetup with Wang Wei. Desperate, he sneaks out cash from Dad, buys a panda plushie, and races to their spot—only to find a brutal stick-and-leaf message: "Dong Peng is not a man." Ouch. But wait! Wang Wei later returns, swaps the insult to "Dong Peng is a big jerk," and texts him. When Feng Qiulan hands over the phone, our boy grins like he just won the lottery. Teenagers, amirite?

The Great Parental Shuffle

In a shocking twist, Grandma Dong announces she’s moving in with Erlin’s family instead, leaving the house to Dalin. Chen Ling struts out like she’s won the lottery, already planning to hire help for the elders (and probably redecorate). But Dalin warns his brother: "Take good care of them—we’ll always be here if they want to come back." Cue the violins as Grandma fights tears.

Feng Family Fireworks

Meanwhile, Feng Qiulan’s dad tries to reclaim 3 acres from her brother Feng Gousheng, leading to a screaming match with Sis-in-law Feng. Back home, Feng finds Dong Peng sulking over his romantic disaster—unaware that Wang Wei’s already softening her stance.
