Spoiler Alert
Buckle up, because Episode 8 of Destiny and Saving throws us deep into emotional chaos, power struggles, and some seriously charged romantic tension. It's an episode packed with pain, sacrifice, and a mounting sense of doom—and just when you think things can’t get worse, they do.
Mo Xiao's Impossible Choice
The episode kicks off with Yuan Beichen confronting Mo Xiao about his desperate attempts to save Wu Chen. Yuan wants answers—what's Mo Xiao's plan if he refuses to give up? Mo Xiao doesn’t flinch. He declares that he’ll endure any punishment necessary to get Wu Chen out. That only pisses Yuan off more, and he intensifies the Fumo Curse.
Every blow of the curse lands on Wu Chen—but strangely, Chong Guang feels it too. He screams in pain, but disturbingly, he seems thrilled by it. It's the only thing that reminds him he's still alive. Yikes.
Meanwhile, Mo Xiao is haunted by Feng Lixue’s blood oath—her vow to return from the dead for vengeance. That memory tears at him, and he begs Yuan to stop, but Yuan turns the knife even deeper: the more Mo Xiao pleads, the worse Wu Chen’s punishment gets. Yuan makes it clear—if Mo Xiao sacrifices himself, maybe he will live, but Wu Chen definitely won’t.
Enter the Masked Savior
Chong Guang realizes something's up when he feels searing pain in his chest—he connects the dots and sends out an urgent message: Wu Chen must not die.
Back in the Fumo Palace, Wu Chen is being tortured mercilessly. Yuan Beichen offers Mo Xiao a cruel deal: confess at the Sword Pavilion or Wu Chen doesn’t leave alive. As Mo Xiao is dragged off, a mysterious figure in black robes sneaks into the chamber and shields Wu Chen from the curse. In her dazed state, Wu Chen catches a glimpse of a masked man before passing out.
Secrets, Regrets, and Old Flames
Things escalate when Yuan Beichen lashes out at Mo Xiao for breaking into the Fumo Palace over a woman. Mo Xiao stays tight-lipped, even as Yuan beats him. Yuan accuses him of betraying the Immortal Lord’s command and reveals the truth: Wu Chen is Feng Lixue. That’s why Mo Xiao is willing to risk everything.
Yuan throws another dagger: has Mo Xiao already forgotten Feng Yue’s death?
A Fox, a Mirror, and a Mask
Elsewhere, Chong Guang is up to something shady. He summons Xue’er, a white fox now in human form, and shows her a strand of divine consciousness through a magical mirror. He transfers the spirit into her body and crowns her with the Phoenix Mask. Her powers now supercharged, she’s ready to reveal the hidden secrets of the Ice Lake of Ten Thousand Islands—and Chong Guang wants everyone to know.
A Temporary Truce?
Yuan Beichen starts to question himself. Maybe he misjudged Mo Xiao. He apologizes and suggests a new mission: if the woman behind the Phoenix Mask really is Feng Lixue, Mo Xiao must kill her—no matter the past. Mo Xiao agrees, but you can tell that decision is tearing him apart.
Yuan also softens toward Wu Chen, letting Mo Xiao retrieve her. Mo Xiao is heartbroken to see her so weak, though surprisingly uninjured. He assumes it's thanks to the ribbon he gave her—Wu Chen, however, mentions someone in a mask came to save her, but she refused to leave because she believed Mo Xiao would show up. Oof. The loyalty!
Love Triangles, Squared
Back home, Mo Xiao asks Zisu to care for Wu Chen. Wu Chen, still weak but sharp, figures out that Zisu likes Mo Xiao. She even calls out that Zisu’s coldness toward her is straight out of a romance book. But here's the kicker: Wu Chen says Mo Xiao knows about Zisu’s feelings—he just won’t acknowledge them to spare everyone the embarrassment. In her mind (and the books she reads), Mo Xiao clearly loves her. That bombshell sends Zisu storming out.
The Race for the Sacred Stones
Meanwhile, there's a whole other war brewing. After a huge battle between the Demon Clan and the Immortal Sects, the all-powerful Tianmo Order shattered into three sacred stones—one of which is already with Chong Guang. He’s now on a mission to find the other two, rumored to be hidden in the secret vault.
Jixing Luo volunteers to help, but Chong Guang sends Chang Ming instead, which Jixing Luo doesn’t like one bit—especially since Chang Ming isn’t even Demon Clan. Chong Guang reminds her he isn’t either. Tension? You bet.
Even Wushuang, the former wife of Ye Yuan, steps in to calm things. Chong Guang respects her but knows she’s never liked him being in charge.
The Ice Lake Mission (and More Drama)
Everyone wants in on the Ice Lake mission. Murong Jing practically jumps at the chance to go with Mo Xiao, and her brother lets her take his place. She’s thrilled—until she runs into Wu Chen. What follows is a classic standoff. Wu Chen reminds her—again—that Mo Xiao doesn’t like her. He likes her, Wu Chen. Murong Jing storms off, furious.
Later, Mo Xiao tries to prep for the trip, asking Xie Lingyun to stay behind and watch over Wu Chen. Lingyun is not happy about it and suggests either taking Wu Chen along or leaving her with Murong Jing. Coincidentally (or not), Wu Chen and Murong Jing overhear that whole convo.
Wu Chen is crushed. This is the third time Mo Xiao's leaving her behind. According to the books she reads, there’s a rule: “Three strikes, and you’re out.” She decides she’s had enough and storms off, expecting Mo Xiao to chase after her. When he doesn’t... her disappointment is written all over her face.
Final Thoughts
Episode 8 hits hard—and not just with magical curses and secret missions. It’s emotional warfare. Every character is grappling with past trauma, unspoken love, and impossible decisions. Loyalties are shifting, secrets unraveling, and that Ice Lake mission? It’s shaping up to be pivotal.
Let’s just say: if you thought the love triangles were messy before, just wait until that Phoenix Mask comes off.
