"Eat Run Love" Episode 19: Recap & Spoilers
The episode kicks off with Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang in Beijing. Gan Yang, smooth as ever, hands Ding Zhitong her favorite water. There's some playful banter about whether she's been back since graduation, and Ding Zhitong makes it clear she's not letting Gan Yang get to her. Or so she says.
Later, Gan Yang's catching Z's in the car, head resting on Ding Zhitong's shoulder. She remembers him shielding her from the sun when she was asleep and returns the favor. She even gets close to touching his nose! The driver sees it all, but when Gan Yang wakes up, Ding Zhitong's back to being Miss Independent. Gan Yang asks about Feng Sheng, but Ding Zhitong stays vague.
Meanwhile, Song Mingmei's having a meltdown after catching her husband, Bo Ting, cheating. She confronts him and threatens divorce. Back in Gan Yang's world, his driver spills the tea about Ding Zhitong's almost-nose-touch. The driver warns Gan Yang not to get played, but Gan Yang's secretly thrilled. He orders a full investigation on Ding Zhitong and is over the moon when he finds out she's single.
On the business front, Wang Shi is considering investing in Gan Yang's company. Shu Chi's President Zhan is desperate to snag that deal before Gan Yang can.
Gan Yang invites Ding Zhitong to dinner, and she's torn. She calls Song Mingmei for advice, who tells her to dress to kill but not to get too soft. The next day, Ding Zhitong's on her way to meet Gan Yang when she hears a radio show about a woman whose boyfriend of three years suddenly disappeared. Feeling a connection, Ding Zhitong cancels the date.
Instead, she heads to her old university, reminiscing about her good times with Gan Yang. Cue the dramatic rain! She ducks into a convenience store and runs into Gan Yang. He knows she was supposed to meet him but didn't show. She's defensive, saying she's married and doesn't want to talk about the past. A younger student recognizes Ding Zhitong and believes they will get back together. Ding Zhitong sees that Gan Yang is still outside, worried about her getting rained on. They share a long look, but no words.
Later that night, Ding Zhitong gets drunk, and the student calls Gan Yang to help. He takes her back to his place, and guess what? His password is her birthday! Drunk Ding Zhitong tells him not to use her birthday. Gan Yang sweetly agrees. She falls asleep wearing the dress she had picked out to meet Liu Yongjuan.
The next morning, Gan Yang has made breakfast and left out clothes for her. Ding Zhitong worries about what she might have said while drunk. Gan Yang assures her everything is fine and tells her that his company's "running shoe matrix" was all for her. He wants her to work on some of his company's financing projects. Ding Zhitong gets angry and says she's not interested. Gan Yang reveals that he knows she's not married to Feng Sheng and that he's always loved her. Ding Zhitong lies and says that she and Feng Sheng are secretly married. She claims that everything she's done recently was to get the financing project and that she doesn't want to see him.
Ding Zhitong storms out, and Gan Yang sends her back to her hotel. Both are left reeling from the encounter. Ding Zhitong remembers her mother's death, and both shed tears, despite being apart.
Song Mingmei picks up Ding Zhitong, and they realize Gan Yang has been following them. They arrive at Manhattan Residences, where Gan Yang says he lives. Ding Zhitong is upset because living there was her dream.
Song Mingmei tells Ding Zhitong about Bo Ting's affair and asks her to help look after her child, Yulin. Ding Zhitong comforts Song Mingmei, who is disappointed in her choice of husband.
The next morning, Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang run into each other while jogging. They exchange a look but say nothing.
