Episode Summary
Gan Yang tries to reconcile with Ding Zhitong, explaining his past struggles and why he broke up with her. Ding Zhitong is torn, admitting she still loves him but hesitant to get back together. Meanwhile, Song Mingmei is gaining control at work, and Wang Yi offers Xu Chenxi a place to stay.

So, Ding Zhitong is in a meeting in Hong Kong when her receptionist, Xiao Li, calls. Gan Yang is downstairs wanting to see her. Ding Zhitong refuses, but Gan Yang's presence clearly throws her off. She can't focus afterward.
Later, Gan Yang is waiting for Ding Zhitong outside her office building. When she exits, she pretends not to recognize him and has security remove him! Harsh!
Meanwhile, Song Mingmei brings afternoon tea for the office, conspicuously skipping Bo Ting and giving Qin Chang an extra treat. She's about to finalize a deal with Bo Ting, which will give her complete control of Mo Qi, and she's loving it! Qin Chang wonders if she's worried he and Bo Ting might intentionally miscalculate the company's worth, but Song Mingmei isn't concerned. She figures if they did that, it would mean Qin Chang has feelings for her.
Elsewhere, Wang Yi sees that Xu Chenxi is upset. Wang Yi suggests they go home for some comfort food, but when they arrive at Wang Yi's apartment, Yang He, a persistent admirer of Wang Yi, is camped outside. Since Wang Yi is a boxer and doesn't want a physical confrontation, she offers Xu Chenxi a temporary hideout at her place.
Gan Yang can't reach Ding Zhitong directly, so he uses her boss, leveraging a business deal as an excuse to see her. To explain his past actions, Gan Yang recounts his company's history to Ding Zhitong. He details going bankrupt, his father suing him, and how Xu Chenxi helped him expose Gan Kunliang's fake limp. He forced Gan Kunliang to sell his shares, but Gan Kunliang, bitter about Gan Yang's treatment, demanded a hefty ten million for them. Gan Yang agreed and cut ties with his father. Xu Chenxi offered financial assistance, but Gan Yang refused. Instead, he asked Xu Chenxi to sell the ring he originally bought for Ding Zhitong, and he sold all the properties his mother left him.
Following that, Gan Yang worked tirelessly to expand his company, attending numerous events and drinking excessively, which led to stomach issues. Wang Yi provided tech support, and Dr. Chen waited for Gan Yang to seek him out. Gan Yang eventually approached Dr. Chen for a loan of twenty million after achieving a breakthrough. He promised repayment in three years. Dr. Chen agreed, stipulating that if Gan Yang couldn't repay the loan, he would have to work for him for free for life, believing Gan Yang was worth the investment.
With the funds, Gan Yang's business took off, and Liu Yongjuan's health improved significantly. Liu Yongjuan was touched by her son's hard work, and Gan Yang felt confident that things would only get better.
Gan Yang lays out his story on a whiteboard, explaining why he broke up with Ding Zhitong. Ding Zhitong is visibly moved but still asks him to leave, claiming she has a meeting. As she stares at the whiteboard, tears stream down her face. She finally understands his struggles and the reasons behind their breakup.
Gan Yang purchases two concert tickets and sends a photo to Ding Zhitong, inviting her to the 8 PM show. Ding Zhitong doesn't respond, but she keeps checking her phone. Gan Yang waits outside the concert venue.
As 8 PM nears, Ding Zhitong can't concentrate on work. She packs up and rushes out. Gan Yang is sitting in the rain, patiently waiting. Ding Zhitong arrives with an umbrella, heartbroken to see him like that. Gan Yang smiles, recalling their past when they would sit outside just like this. He asks her to watch the concert with him. They sit outside, listening to music and drinking beer. Gan Yang confesses he was afraid to tell Ding Zhitong the truth, fearing she would leave him. He says he stayed away to allow her a peaceful and happy life, but now he doesn't want to give up. Ding Zhitong insists they can never be together again, but Gan Yang mentions his encounter with Feng Sheng, saying that as long as he perseveres, he can get back. He confesses his love for Ding Zhitong, asking if she loves him too. Tears stream down Ding Zhitong's face, and she blurts out that she loves him too. But when Gan Yang asks her to repeat it, she clams up. Ding Zhitong wishes none of this had happened so she could love Gan Yang without hesitation.
Distraught, Gan Yang calls Wang Yi for advice, asking why Ding Zhitong won't forgive him. Wang Yi is about to analyze the situation when Ding Zhitong texts Gan Yang, inviting him to dinner. Overjoyed, Gan Yang hangs up on Wang Yi.
