Spoiler Alert

Episode 7 of Eat Run Love keeps the emotional rollercoaster going, delivering misunderstandings, missed connections, and some hilariously awkward moments—all wrapped up in the chaotic charm this show does so well.

When Running Literally Knocks You Out

Wang Yi is not built for endurance. After overexerting herself in a run, she’s left wobbling, dehydrated, and clutching a utility pole for dear life. A passing girl mistakes her shivering for electrocution and—get this—drop-kicks her. Yes, really. Wang Yi, understandably furious after chugging the girl's water, snaps back, calling her "blind." Honestly, fair.

The McDonald's Near-Miss

Elsewhere, Ding Zhitong is broke and bunking overnight at a McDonald's (we've all been there). While she’s in the restroom, Gan Yang and Wang Yi show up to grab food. They just barely miss each other, but Gan Yang finds a heart-shaped tag and hears a ringtone that sounds suspiciously like Zhitong’s. He’s convinced it’s fate and gets all giddy about confessing his feelings the next day. Wang Yi? She rolls her eyes and declares that love turns men into idiots.

‍♂️ Marathon, Misunderstandings, and Missed Opportunities

At the marathon, Gan Yang’s childhood friend Xu Chenxi arrives to cheer him on. Wang Yi recognizes her—it’s the same girl who kicked her! Small world.

Gan Yang asks Xu Chenxi to help get Ding Zhitong to the finish line so he can confess. Along the way, Xu plants seeds of doubt in Zhitong’s mind, implying she and Gan Yang are super close—so close, in fact, that his love for making shoes, running, and even this marathon are all because of her. That stings. Zhitong, feeling crushed, hops off the route and catches a train back to Beijing early.

When Gan Yang calls her, she tells him coldly she’s already left. He’s speechless. Wang Yi wants to comfort him, but even she doesn’t dare get involved right now.

Emotional Goodbyes and Jealous Encounters

Back in Beijing, Feng Sheng is waiting at the station for Zhitong—he knew she’d be back early. He scolds her for turning off her phone, and as soon as she powers it on, Gan Yang calls. Feng Sheng, clearly staking his claim, talks loudly enough that Gan Yang hears him over the phone. Mission: accomplished.

Later, Feng Sheng invites Zhitong to dinner to celebrate his new job offer. She reluctantly agrees—but only if Song Mingmei comes too. Except, surprise: Song doesn’t show up. Feng Sheng says she had "something come up." Hmm.

He also says he’s putting off his job decision until she decides where she’s going. Zhitong suggests he join another company—one in a different city. The message is clear: she’s trying to create distance.

️ The Love Triangle Gets Messy

While Zhitong and Feng Sheng are walking back from dinner, they bump into Gan Yang, who invites her to celebrate his marathon success. She shuts him down with a curt, "I already ate." Ouch. She storms off, leaving Gan Yang to confront Feng Sheng.

The confrontation is tense. Feng Sheng claims he confessed to Zhitong, but Gan Yang can tell it’s a bluff. The two guys basically declare emotional war.

‍♀️ Collisions, Confrontations & Clarifications

The next morning, both guys show up to walk Zhitong to school. She picks neither and walks off alone. Meanwhile, Song Mingmei, rushing to class in heels, takes a tumble. Qin Chang bikes by, and she begs for a ride. He’s still salty about her previous insults, but she hops on anyway. Chaos ensues.

Feng Sheng and Gan Yang, still in their testosterone-fueled race, end up crashing into them, sending everyone to the infirmary. Zhitong shows up and scolds Gan Yang, who leaves in embarrassment.

On the walk home, Zhitong finally tells Feng Sheng they can only be friends. He gets the message and walks away, heart heavy.

Drunk Confessions & Sweet Resolutions

Gan Yang, now emotionally wrecked, gets drunk and stumbles to Zhitong’s dorm, yelling her name like he’s in a rom-com. Students gather, laughing. Zhitong, mortified, drags him off to talk.

She confronts him: Did he really invite Xu Chenxi to run? Gan Yang clears it up—Xu hurt her ankle the one time they ran together, and he never enjoyed running with her. He only wanted to run with Zhitong. The misunderstanding unravels.

He then asks her the big question: Does she like someone? Zhitong blushes.

As she tries to call Wang Yi to take him home, Gan Yang pulls the classic drunk move—grabbing her hand and begging her to go running with him. She finally agrees. Both of them smile.

Final Thoughts

Episode 7 is peak Eat Run Love: full of missed chances, emotional misfires, and just enough clarity to keep us invested. Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong finally start to clear the fog between them, but with Feng Sheng still lingering and Xu Chenxi causing confusion, nothing’s truly settled yet.
