My Destined Consort: Episode 10

Spoiler Alert

Episode 10 of My Destined Consort is a whirlwind of medical miracles, political scheming, and emotional goodbyes — and it’s one of the most pivotal episodes yet.

The Battle for Lei Wan Begins

The episode kicks off with rising urgency: the child’s condition is deteriorating fast, and the only hope lies in a rare, treasured medicine called Lei Wan — practically a Lu family heirloom. Enter Shen Jiangli, who's willing to risk everything for that medicine.

When news spreads that Master Lu, the family patriarch, has suffered a relapse of an old, chronic illness, Shen Jiangli sees an opportunity. She insists on treating him herself, despite the risks, claiming she’s been studying his condition for quite some time and now has a 60% confidence rate. That’s… pretty specific, but hey, we’ll take it.

Family Politics: The Sickbed Showdown

As expected, both the first and second branches of the Lu family swarm around the old man’s bedside — everyone suddenly wants to be the most devoted. But when Shen Jiangli shows up, hoping for a chance to treat him, Shufei (the matriarch and her mother-in-law) is not having it. She’s worried that if her daughter-in-law messes up, it could cause an even bigger disaster.

Ironically, the first branch — ever the schemers — supports Shen Jiangli, clearly hoping she fails. But the old master himself is still lucid enough to make the call. He allows Shen Jiangli to take his pulse.

Shen Jiangli Works Her Magic (Literally)

Shen Jiangli gets to work with her custom-made calming incense, which starts to ease the master’s severe headaches. Then, she pulls out the needles — yes, acupuncture time. To everyone’s surprise, it works. The tension in his body eases, and the old man is delighted. He offers a generous reward... but not the Lei Wan.

Instead, Shen Jiangli gets some nice fabrics and silver trinkets. Thanks, but not quite what she came for.

Enter: Lu Jingming’s Secret Weapon

With Shen Jiangli’s medical skills falling short of securing Lei Wan, it’s Lu Jingming’s turn to step up. His secret weapon? Literally — it’s a modified repeating crossbow, and he's been working day and night to perfect it.

After countless sleepless nights, the accuracy finally improves, and the two are hopeful. With imperial envoys visiting Dongzhou, they want to make a strong impression.

Sabotage & Redemption

Of course, the first branch isn’t going to just sit back. They send someone to sabotage Lu Jingming’s crossbow by cutting the materials. On the big day, Lu Jingming is thrown off — but he’s not defeated. He had a backup: a five-arrow repeating crossbow that’s so effective, even three children could operate it. (No, really. That’s the demo.)

The envoys are stunned. Dongzhou’s strength just became a lot more intimidating, and the Lu family’s honor is restored.

Victory, and Then Goodbye?

In a moment of triumph, the family patriarch finally gives Lu Jingming the precious Lei Wan — and even names him the new Commander of the Jinlin Guards. Huge win.

Lu Jingming rushes back to give the medicine to Shen Jiangli. The child takes it and miraculously recovers, running around like nothing ever happened. Mission accomplished.

But this also means it's time to honor an earlier agreement. Shen Jiangli had promised to leave with the child once this was all over. She writes to her brother and starts packing for Dingfeng Pavilion.

The Bittersweet Goodbye That Isn’t (Yet)

Lu Jingming, unaware of her plans at first, buys her a beautiful hairpin, hiding it in his sleeve. But when he comes home and sees her packing, reality hits hard. She’s leaving. They’re leaving.

He’s crushed — but a promise is a promise. Still, it’s clear he can’t bear to let them go. The question is: how far is he willing to go to keep her and the child by his side?

Final Thoughts:

This episode perfectly balances court intrigue, emotional tension, and character growth. Shen Jiangli proves her worth not just as a healer, but as someone who dares to act when no one else will. Lu Jingming, on the other hand, is slowly realizing that love and loyalty aren’t things you negotiate — they’re things you fight for.
