Episode Summary
Huang Jiawang arrives at prison and is immediately pegged as a troublemaker. Bai Enyu gets good news about his wife's pregnancy and is recommended for a job at the Procuratorate. During his interview, he gets caught up in a paint-throwing incident. Huang Jiawang continues to cause problems in prison, leading to solitary confinement.

Episode 2 kicks off with Huang Jiawang and his two buddies getting processed into the prison. Bai Enyu, a seasoned prison guard, immediately pegs Huang Jiawang as a troublemaker. While the other inmates are all mopey after getting their heads shaved, Huang Jiawang is just chilling, acting like he's on vacation. Bai Enyu tries to give him the "life lesson" speech, telling him to learn from his mistakes and aim for early release, but it's clear Huang Jiawang isn't buying it. Meanwhile, another inmate, Li Hui, is eating himself up with guilt, tossing and turning every night. But Huang Jiawang? He's sleeping like a baby and ignoring everything the guards say.
Bai Enyu gets a call from his wife with some amazing news – she's pregnant! After ten years of marriage, they're finally expecting. He's super excited and promises to take care of her as soon as he can get away from work. His colleagues tease him about being a "simp" for his wife, pointing out how different he is when he's lecturing inmates versus talking to her. Bai Enyu has been studying criminal psychology for years, and he's got the new inmates figured out. He sees Huang Jiawang as a lost cause, but thinks there's hope for the other two. He's already planning how to manage them, like keeping Huang Jiawang away from opportunities to show off and guiding Chen Xiaobin, who just needs some positive influence.
The prison warden is impressed with Bai Enyu's work and recommends him for a job at the Municipal Procuratorate. This is a huge deal because it means Bai Enyu could finally go home every night. He's thrilled and starts prepping for the interview, even writing down answers to potential questions.
On the day of the interview, Bai Enyu arrives looking sharp, but runs into Zhang Wenxuan's mother. She's accosting Lin Zhitao, demanding justice for her son, and when she realizes Lin Zhitao can't help, she throws paint on her. Bai Enyu, being the nice guy he is, tries to intervene, and ends up getting paint on his own shirt.
The interview process is intimidating. Bai Enyu is surrounded by candidates from top universities with impressive backgrounds. When it's his turn, he's nervous, especially with that big red stain on his sleeve. The interviewer asks about the stain, and Bai Enyu initially hesitates, but then decides to be honest and tells them everything that happened outside. He figures he's blown his chances, especially since he only got the interview because he passed the bar exam after studying massage.
Back at the prison, Huang Jiawang is stirring up trouble. Bai Enyu warns him to behave, but then Huang Jiawang assaults Li Hui. As punishment, Bai Enyu throws him in solitary confinement. But even in solitary, Huang Jiawang is unrepentant. Bai Enyu tries to reach him by bringing him instant noodles, but Huang Jiawang just gets worse. Bai Enyu, fed up, extends his solitary confinement from three days to seven.
