"Endless Protection" Episode 6: Recap & Spoilers
Episode 6 gets pretty intense! Lin Zhitao rushes to the scene of an incident. Turns out, Zhang Wenxuan's mom, Zhang Huiwen, is up on a building, at the same spot where her son Zhang Wenxuan stood before his tragic accident. Zhang Huiwen is understandably distraught, realizing the pain her son must have felt. Lin Zhitao tries to talk her down, acknowledging the complexities of prosecuting juveniles but promising Zhang Huiwen that if those kids continue their violent ways as adults, she'll ensure justice is served.
Things get even more dramatic when Zhang Huiwen, in her emotional state, nearly falls off the building! Lin Zhitao manages to grab her, but both end up falling. Thankfully, Lin Zhitao had the foresight to call the fire department, and they had an airbag ready, saving both Lin Zhitao and Zhang Huiwen. Talk about a close call!
Meanwhile, Bai Enyu is all excited for his first day at his new job. He's dreaming big, picturing a hero's welcome at the Procuratorate. He even takes a celebratory photo at the office and sends it to his wife. But his enthusiasm quickly deflates. He discovers his new office for the "juvenile delinquency division" is basically a temporary storage room. People are referring to his department as "the kids' stuff." It's not exactly the promotion he envisioned.
Lin Zhitao tries to keep Bai Enyu's spirits up, reminding him that the department is important and the current situation is temporary. She hands him a stack of case files, and Bai Enyu is shocked by the number of terrible parents out there. As soon as it's time to leave, Bai Enyu makes a move to head out, but Lin Zhitao reminds him to take notes on the files before leaving. So much for the new job being easy.
Back home, Bai Enyu vents to his wife, who encourages him to stick with it, especially with the mortgage to pay. Her support helps him feel better. A significant part of the episode revolves around Lin Zhitao and Bai Enyu's efforts to help Lu Sheng's younger brother, Lu Ming, get a new guardian. Their father, Lu Guangfu, hasn't been responsible, so they're pushing for a change.
The head of the Procuratorate takes a personal interest in the case, joining the discussion about Lu Ming's guardianship. Bai Enyu's practical experience and well-reasoned arguments prove crucial. The court agrees to revoke Lu Guangfu's guardianship, meaning Lu Ming won't have to worry about being forced back into a life of crime. Lu Sheng can now live a peaceful life with his brother.
To top it off, Bai Enyu uses his connections to find Lu Sheng a job as a kitchen helper at a small restaurant. Lu Sheng is grateful for the opportunity and promises to work hard.
