So, Chrysanthemum Official is in a major pickle. He's been agonizing all night about how to record a certain hidden history. He feels like he's the only one who knows about it and should write it down fairly, but he's totally in the dark about what actually happened. Talk about a moral dilemma!
Meanwhile, Hong Ning is playing the sweet card, bringing Jinxiu some snacks. She's all, "Remember how you said the Huachao Festival snacks weren't up to par? Well, the new fairy made a bunch, so try them!"
Jinxiu tastes one and is like, "Meh, they're okay. Just make the old ones." Chrysanthemum Official offers another plate, but Jinxiu thinks they look too fancy and skips them. But, surprise, surprise! He suggests she return to the lower realm to suffer less, but Hong Ning is determined to stay and see the Flower Goddess. She'll do anything! She asks Chrysanthemum Official how to join the Huachao Festival, and he says she needs a flower invitation (花柬, Hua Jian).
Hong Ning seeks out Apricot Immortal, hoping to score a Hua Jian. Apricot Immortal is snarky but agrees. She takes Hong Ning and Shaoyao to the Kochia scoparia (地肤草, Difu Cao) patch, saying the Hundred Flower Forest is too crowded. They need to grow flowers there to participate in the festival. Shaoyao's suspicious, knowing Apricot Immortal is up to no good. She explains that Jinxiu brought these Kochia scoparia seeds, which Apricot Immortal accidentally scattered. They're hard to remove and will choke the roots of any other flowers, making it impossible to grow anything.
Hong Ning isn't fazed and vows to pull them out. Meanwhile, Jinxiu adds mint to wine and loves it. Plum Immortal delivers wine to Kunlun, who also approves. Kunlun sneaks out, but Jinxiu refuses him wine until he counts all the flower petals and earns a drink fair and square.
Jinxiu goes to administer divine punishment and finds Lu Jiu, son of the North Realm King (北界王, North Kai King), there. The others say Lu Jiu was born with three tails, a sign of a demon, and his father sent him. Jinxiu points out that the punishment is for violating heavenly law, and the number of tails doesn't matter. She orders him released. Lu Jiu doesn't know where to go, so Jinxiu tells him to cultivate diligently, and maybe they'll meet again.
In the North Immortal Realm, a drop of golden lotus dew appears, delighting the North Realm King. He declares that Lu Yao is his only heir and, if she marries Jinxiu, the dew will be her dowry. Back to Hong Ning, she's learning etiquette and struggling with eyebrow makeup. Jinxiu sees her and can't stand it. He gives her a template, but she still fails.
